Yunnan Tea Enters Belgium, Inviting Local People to Smell and Taste Tea
2024-05-27
On the 24th local time, the launch ceremony of the "Tea and the World · Yaji" Belgium Station and the China (Yunnan) Tea Culture Series Exchange Event were held at the Brussels China Cultural Center. The event is themed around the "wind", "elegance", and "praise" of Yunnan tea, fully showcasing the charm of Chinese tea culture and the local customs of Yunnan. On that day, multiple activities were held, including tea tasting, fragrance smelling, dance appreciation, and poetry recitation. Artists from Yunnan use dance and acrobatics from multiple ethnic groups such as Dai, Yi, and Hani to recreate the scenes of planting, picking, making, and drinking tea in the misty sea of Yunshan, immersing the audience in the charm of Yuncha. On May 24th local time, guests experienced intangible cultural heritage rubbings at the launch ceremony of the "Tea and the World · Yaji" Belgium Station and the China (Yunnan) Tea Culture Series Exchange Event. The event showcased cultural products related to tea, such as Yunnan Huaning pottery, bamboo weaving, and cloud tea fragrance system, and invited guests to experience intangible cultural heritage such as rubbings, calligraphy, and tea ceremony up close. Each booth was surrounded by enthusiastic local public participation. Young people from China and Belgium use tea as a medium to make friends through poetry and talk about friendship together. The out of print woodcut artwork with the theme of "Jingmai Mountain Tea Culture" created by the famous Chinese artist He Kun was unveiled on site. The artwork, through woodblock engraving and layer by layer rendering, engraved the world's first tea themed world cultural heritage site, the "Pu'er Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape", depicting the beautiful scene of people, tea, and forest coexisting. This work will be exhibited for a long time at the Chinese Cultural Center in Brussels. The picture shows guests tasting tea on site. "Tea symbolizes harmony, dialogue, communication, and respect for each other." Bernard Dewitt, Chairman of the China Economic and Trade Commission, stated that there are many Chinese tea enthusiasts in Belgium. He himself loves tea very much and still remembers the beautiful scene of tea tasting and communication under the clear moonlight in Beijing. This event is an important part of the 2024 "Cloud Teng Four Seas, Tea Moves the World" China (Yunnan) Tea Culture Europe Promotion Event. (Lai Xin She)
