In terms of quantity, compared to March 2024, the total amount of RMB payments decreased by 3.07%, while the total amount of all currency payments increased by 0.58%. According to Swift data, in April 2024, the US dollar, euro, and pound sterling ranked among the top three major currencies in terms of payment amounts, accounting for 47.31%, 22.55%, and 6.84%, respectively. The Japanese yen remained in fifth place, accounting for 3.97%. In addition, if international payments outside the eurozone are used as the statistical basis, the Chinese yuan ranks fifth in the current month, accounting for 3.08%.
