Shaanxi builds a bridge for tourism cooperation between China and the United States

The foundation of China US relations is poured by the people, the door to China US relations is opened by the people, the story of China US relations is written by the people, and the future of China US relations will also be jointly created by the people of both countries. We warmly welcome American tourists to travel to China, meet Chinese friends, experience Chinese culture, visit beautiful landscapes, and experience the real China firsthand. I hope that all sectors of the two countries can take this high-level dialogue as an opportunity to deepen exchanges, gather consensus, take active actions, promote personnel exchanges through tourism cooperation, continue the friendship between China and the United States through cultural exchanges, and help turn the "San Francisco vision" into reality. The 14th China US Tourism High Level Dialogue opened on the same day in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, with the theme of "Promoting Cultural Exchange between China and the United States through Tourism". It was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, the US Department of Commerce, and the US Tourism Promotion Agency. As a province with abundant cultural and tourism resources, Shaanxi has once again become a bridge connecting China and the United States in tourism cooperation through the intersection and integration of Eastern and Western civilizations, promoting further expansion and deepening of cultural exchanges between China and the United States. Shaanxi is one of the important birthplaces of the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization. It has a prosperous history of Zhou Li, Qin system, Han style, and Tang rhyme, as well as the Yan'an spirit that shines for thousands of years and forever shines; The unique spiritual symbols of Chinese civilization, including the majestic and graceful Qinling Mountains, as well as the mother Yellow River that nurtures nine provinces, all showcase the profound heritage and heroic spirit of "why China" and attract many American tourists to come to Shaanxi for tourism. It is reported that in 2019, Shaanxi Province received 388000 American tourists, accounting for 11.77% of foreign tourists, ranking second in the inbound tourist source market of Shaanxi Province. In order to implement the consensus of the San Francisco meeting between the heads of state of China and the United States, and to do a good job in dialogue promotion and preparation, the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism successfully held two cultural and tourism promotion conferences in New York and Los Angeles in February this year, including the promotion of cultural and tourism resources, routes, and tourist routes. The promotion conference invited more than 300 representatives from the cultural, tourism, aviation, hotel, and news industries from both regions to attend, which received good feedback and in-depth real-time coverage from well-known media such as the Associated Press. In addition, relying on its profound historical and cultural heritage and unique tourism resources, Shaanxi continuously strengthens its online layout by opening an English account for "You Shaanxi" on internationally renowned social media platforms, playing a "combination punch" in external communication and promotion, actively promoting Chinese culture into the United States, and consolidating the American customer market. At present, the total number of fans for the English account "You Shaanxi" has reached 1.28 million. The English account of "Visit Shaanxi" takes full advantage of the strong influence of the big screen of Times Square in New York, the United States, and adopts the "offline+online" publicity method. Before the New Year's Day of 2024, it will broadcast the advertising of Shaanxi's key cultural and tourism products represented by the Terra Cotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Huashan, Qinling Mountains, etc. on the big screen of the Toronto Stock Exchange in Times Square, to further enhance the influence of Shaanxi's cultural and tourism brands and continue to "plant grass" to the American people. "We know each other far and near, and thousands of miles are still neighbors." In December 2020, as an important part of the online series of friendly exchange activities for the 5th anniversary of the friendship between Shaanxi Province and Wyoming in the United States, the Shaanxi China Wyoming Economic, Trade, Tourism, and Cultural Industry Cooperation Matchmaking Conference was held synchronously through online video connections between the two cities. The Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism actively guides tourism enterprises to innovate their promotional methods, actively promoting Shaanxi's cultural and tourism resources through platforms such as overseas social media and overseas Chinese cultural centers in friendly provinces and major tourist source countries, and expanding Shaanxi's overseas influence. The Silk Road International Art Festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, and organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shaanxi Province, is the first national cultural and art event on the "the Belt and Road" in China. In September 2022, at the 8th Silk Road International Art Festival, the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra held a limited time online exhibition of "The Existence of Life", attracting numerous Shaanxi audiences to enjoy an art feast. At the current high-level dialogue on tourism between China and the United States, cultural and tourism exchanges between Shaanxi and the United States have been further strengthened. Xi'an and Los Angeles have become tourism partner cities between China and the United States. Shaanxi Tourism Group has signed a letter of intent with Niderun Global Entertainment Company of the United States. The Qujiang New Area Management Committee of Xi'an and the Southern California Chinese Association have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the 2024 "Chang'an Lantern Festival" in Los Angeles, USA, and the Sino US documentary "Snow: The Unfinished Road" project has been signed. Next, Shaanxi will invite American cultural and tourism professionals to participate in the Silk Road International Art Festival and the Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo in Shaanxi, and form a delegation to promote Shaanxi's cultural and tourism resources in the United States, telling Shaanxi's story well, continuing the friendship between the two peoples, and helping to promote the "San Francisco" cultural and tourism industry. Transforming vision into reality and making contributions to Shaanxi. "We support and encourage cities across the province to engage in sister city cooperation with relevant cities in the United States, promote the opening of more direct flights from Shaanxi to the United States, and continuously improve inbound tourism facilitation services."
