A special concert will be held on the evening of May 21st at the Zhongshan Memorial Hall in Guangzhou. More than 30 artists, including Qu Xianhe, Lei Jia, and Wu Bixia, gathered together to perform popular songs such as "The White Haired Girl" and "The Marriage of Xiao Er Hei", as well as excerpts from ethnic operas for the audience. At the end of the performance, amidst the overwhelming applause and cheers from the audience, Guo Lanying, who was over ninety years old, walked to the center of the stage and sang "My Motherland" in unison with everyone. This series of activities includes art achievement exhibitions, art achievement symposiums, and concerts, which sort out, showcase, and summarize Guo Lanying's artistic achievements and experience in the past 90 years of art, inherit and promote her artistic spirit of "singing for the people", and encourage and drive literary and artistic workers to create more excellent works that are worthy of the times and the people. Guo Lanying is a famous opera performer, ethnic vocal educator, and Jin Opera performer in China. She is also a first-class actor at the Chinese Opera and Dance Theatre. Over the past 90 years of her career, Guo Lanying has created numerous classic stage art characters such as Xi'er in the opera "The White Haired Girl" and Xiaoqin in "The Little Black Marriage". Her songs such as "My Motherland", "Nanniwan", and "People Say Shanxi Has Beautiful Scenery" have been sung to this day. In September 2019, Guo Lanying was awarded the national honorary title of "People's Artist". This event is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and organized by the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the China Musicians Association.
