On the morning of May 18th, 2024, the Beijing Museum Month grandly kicked off at the Beijing Grand Canal Museum, with a series of activities focused on benefiting the people. At the launch ceremony, the exhibition week, cultural and creative week, film week, and reading Thursday major theme week activities of 2024 Beijing Museum Month were officially released. The Exhibition Week launched the "Hundred Museums, Thousand Exhibitions, and Ten Thousand People's Views" activity, organizing more than a hundred museums to participate, promoting nearly a thousand exhibitions online and offline, and distributing more than ten thousand free museum tickets to the public and university students in the capital every day. Cultural and Creative Week launched activities such as the Beijing Cultural and Creative Design Competition, 6 weekend cultural and creative markets, and "Cultural and Creative Products for the People". Film Week selects nearly 30 museums and more than 10 high-quality films, and launches a "Museum+Film" series of activities during the extended opening period to create a museum movie night. The Reading Week combines museum characteristics and national reading activities, with the Capital Museum and the Beijing Grand Canal Museum as the main venues. The city's museums are organized to jointly carry out a series of "Museum+Reading" activities with distinct themes, rich content, and diverse forms. The launch ceremony also released the carefully crafted "Beijing Museum Guide" and "Beijing Museum Map" by the Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau. The Guide provides a detailed record of 213 museums, ranging from ancient historical and cultural categories to natural and technological categories with a strong sense of technology, from revolutionary memorial halls to art halls. It also thoughtfully annotates the free and evening opening information of museums, making it convenient and quick to locate. The map presents the layout of Beijing Museum in a vivid and intuitive way, distinguishing seven categories through icons. With one map in hand, you can have a comprehensive view of the museum, with complete information, making it easy to plan your itinerary. The launch ceremony held a book gift ceremony, presenting the Guide and Map to some students, audiences, and volunteer representatives. At the launching ceremony, the National Cutural Heritage Administration and the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage awarded medals to the 10 museums in Beijing that won the national first-class museum in the fifth batch of national museum rating evaluation, including the Museum of Chinese Overseas Chinese History, the Museum of Chinese Women and Children, the China Customs Museum, the former residence of Comrade Song Qingling, the honorary president of the People's Republic of China, the National Culture Palace, the Civil Aviation Museum, the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, the China Railway Museum, the Garden Museum, and the Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Hall. These museums, with their high-level collection, research, exhibition, education, and management, have become leaders in the cultural and museum industry in Beijing and even the whole country, adding a heavy stroke to the grand blueprint of the "City of Museums". At the end of the launch ceremony, it was announced that the "Yanzhao Spring Revival Tour - Beijing Tianjin Hebei Coordinated Development Special Exhibition" would open.
