Kazakhstani President Tokayev Meets with Wang Yi
2024-05-21
On May 20th local time, Kazakhstani President Tokayev met with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Astana. Kazakhstan firmly adheres to the One China principle, and this position will never change, because no country should be divided. Kazakhstan is a good partner that China can always trust. Wang Yi said that China and Kazakhstan are good neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, good friends who treat each other equally, and good partners who share the same aspirations. China will continue to firmly support Kazakhstan in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, support the series of development strategies and important measures proposed by the President, and firmly oppose any external interference in Kazakhstan's internal affairs. The Kazakh side emphasizes unwavering adherence to the One China principle, which is particularly important in the current situation in the Taiwan Strait. China expresses gratitude for this. China's development is the growth of peace forces and the enhancement of stability factors in the world, as well as the strength of developing countries and emerging market economies. China's development and revitalization will bring new opportunities to countries around the world, including Kazakhstan. Last year, the two heads of state jointly established the new goal of building a community with a shared future between China and Kazakhstan, setting a new benchmark, providing new impetus, and opening up new prospects for the development of bilateral relations. In the historical process of building a "new Kazakhstan" in Kazakhstan, China is willing to be a reliable and long-term partner, supporting Kazakhstan's diversified economic development, and promoting cooperation in emerging industries such as e-commerce, new energy, and artificial intelligence. China is willing to strengthen strategic cooperation with Kazakhstan under multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the China Central Asia Mechanism, and the Asia Pacific Cooperation and Confidence Council. We are pleased to see Kazakhstan play a greater role on the international and regional stage. On the same day, Wang Yi also held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nurtellev of Kazakhstan and jointly met with reporters. (Lai Xin She)
