Construction of China's largest offshore photovoltaic power station begins

2024-05-20

On the 19th, the Yellow Sea Seaside Wharf, accompanied by a loud "start" order, China's largest offshore photovoltaic project - CNNC Tianwan 2 million kilowatt mudflat photovoltaic demonstration project officially started construction in Lianyungang, Jiangsu. Photovoltaic power generation and nuclear power, as high safety clean energy sources, are close to terminal loads and have strong complementarity. CNNC Tianwan 2000000kW mudflat photovoltaic demonstration project uses the thermal drainage area of the nuclear power plant to carry out "photovoltaic+nuclear power" multi energy complementation, which can effectively reduce the impact of the project on the marine ecosystem and provide more clean energy for surrounding cities. It is reported that the project is expected to be connected to the grid for the first time in September 2024 and fully capacity by 2025. During the 25 year operation period, the average annual on grid power is 2234 million kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual production and domestic power demand of about 230000 people in moderately developed countries. The annual standard coal saving is about 680000 tons, and the carbon dioxide emission is reduced by 1.77 million tons. It has a good demonstration effect on the intensive, scientific and ecological use of shallow beach resources to develop clean energy industry. After the project is fully completed, it will be coupled with CNNC Tianwan Nuclear Power Base to form a large clean energy base with a total installed capacity of more than 10 million kilowatts. It is of great demonstration significance for the transformation and upgrading of the regional energy structure, the construction of a clean energy demonstration base for the integration of nuclear power and photovoltaic, and the scientific, efficient and ecological use of mudflat resources to develop clean energy industry. It is a powerful measure to contribute China's nuclear power to the realization of the "dual carbon" goal. (Lai Xin She)
