Current Review | Industrial Cooperation is the Way to Win Win - The World Significance of China's Advanced Production Capacity
2024-05-17
At the recently held Beijing Sino German Industrial Cooperation and Development Forum, industry leaders, corporate executives, and investment representatives gathered together to warmly discuss hot industries such as new energy intelligent vehicles and digital economy. At the Beijing International Auto Show, which represents industry trends, many multinational car companies coincidentally chose to deepen their industrial cooperation with China. These industry trends truly reflect that the global demand for green transformation continues to expand, and promoting green industries and low-carbon economy is a consensus among all parties. It is the trend for countries to cooperate and develop the new energy industry together. The exhibited BMW electric vehicle products were photographed at the signing ceremony on April 26th. On the evening of April 26th, the signing ceremony for deepening strategic cooperation between Shenyang City, Liaoning Province and BMW Group was held in Shenyang. BMW Group announced that it will continue to deepen its layout in China, increasing its capital by 20 billion yuan for the large-scale upgrade and technological innovation of BMW Brilliance's Da Dong factory. At present, Shenyang has become the world's largest production base and one of the most important centers for new energy vehicles for BMW Group. At present, the global new energy industry is transitioning from the "incubation period" to the "growth period", and there is still a considerable distance from the "mature period". Advanced production capacity is not only not surplus, but also relatively insufficient. According to research by the International Energy Agency, in order to achieve carbon neutrality goals, global sales of new energy vehicles need to reach about 45 million units by 2030, which is more than three times that of 2023; The global demand for power batteries will reach 3500 gigawatt hours by 2030, which is more than four times the global shipment volume in 2023 and far exceeds the current global supply capacity. Faced with the global challenge of climate change, every new energy vehicle and breakthrough in every renewable energy project is a positive contribution to global green development. In promoting the development of the new energy industry, China has always adhered to open cooperation and shared development opportunities with other countries. In the constantly deepening industrial cooperation, China and the world are increasingly showing two-way interaction. In 2018, China lifted the restrictions on foreign investment in the manufacturing of new energy vehicles, and car companies such as Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW, and Toyota invested in electric vehicle production in China. According to a report released by Gaist Automotive Strategy Consulting, in 2023, foreign car companies accounted for a total share of 14.2% in the Chinese new energy passenger vehicle market, with Tesla in the United States accounting for 7.9%. Thanks to the strong support of China's policy environment, industrial chain, and talent, Tesla achieved the production of complete vehicles exceeding one million within three years. Volkswagen has established the largest research and development center outside its German headquarters in Hefei, Anhui, focusing on the development of intelligent connected vehicles. While opening its doors to multinational corporations, China also supports foreign investment in new energy. BYD is building an advanced and highly automated new energy vehicle production base in Hungary, which not only promotes the green transformation of the local industry, but also creates thousands of job opportunities for the local area. NIO has established global design centers and intelligent driving technology centers in Munich and Berlin, Germany, respectively. As Walter Dorling, founder and dean of the German World Market Leaders Institute, said, economic and trade cooperation between Germany and China has never been a one-way street. Bilateral economic and trade ties are close, providing strong impetus for the sustainable development of the two countries' economies.
