Cultural relics and heritage carry the genes and bloodline of the Chinese nation, and are non renewable and irreplaceable cultural resources. To deepen the reform and innovation of ideological and political education through the "Great Ideological and Political Course", we should fully leverage the educational function of historical and cultural relics, especially cultural relics and heritage, make good use of historical relics to explain the principles of ideological and political education, educate and guide young students in the new era to strengthen their historical and cultural confidence, and consciously enhance their ambition, backbone, and confidence to be Chinese. In recent years, the Party and the state have attached great importance to the protection and utilization of cultural relics. Relevant departments have formulated a series of documents and systematically deployed the use of cultural relics resources to empower the construction of ideological and political courses, in order to activate the use of historical relics and promote the connotative development of ideological and political course construction. In July 2021, the Ministry of Education and the National Cutural Heritage Administration jointly issued the Opinions on Making Full Use of Revolutionary Cultural Relics Resources to Strengthen Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities in the New Era, requiring that revolutionary cultural relics resources be integrated into the ideological and political work system of colleges and universities in an all-round way, transforming revolutionary cultural relics, a historical and cultural resource, into people-oriented teaching and education resources, and emphasizing the exploration and use of ideological and political education elements contained in revolutionary cultural relics. In July 2022, 10 departments including the Ministry of Education, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee, and the National Cutural Heritage Administration jointly issued the Work Plan for Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of "Great Ideological and Political Courses". The Ministry of Education and the National Cutural Heritage Administration set up 100 special practice and teaching bases for Chinese excellent traditional culture, revolutionary culture, and advanced socialist culture, including the CPC History Exhibition Hall, the National Museum of China, to give full play to the ideological and political education function of historical relics, and strive to improve the pertinence and attractiveness of ideological and political courses. Through multi-party collaboration, the cultural relics collected in museums, the heritage displayed on vast land, and the characters written in ancient books have been revitalized into vivid teaching materials for cultivating virtue and educating people in the new era, providing profound strength for effectively promoting the improvement and efficiency of ideological and political education. The full play of the ideological and political education function of historical relics cannot be achieved without in-depth research and interpretation of cultural relics. In recent years, the Party and the state have focused on strengthening the construction of archaeological capabilities and disciplines, developing rare and obscure disciplines with important cultural value and inheritance significance, and doing a good job in the excavation, sorting, and interpretation of archaeological achievements and cultural heritage. On this basis, we will promote the timely inclusion of research results in primary and secondary school history textbooks, popular reading materials for young people, and tutoring books. With high-level scientific research, we will support high-quality education and teaching, continuously consolidating the research and education efforts of museums, exhibition halls, and schools.
