At the recent 2024 China Medical Development Conference, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences released "China's Important Medical Achievements in the 21st Century" and "China's Important Medical Advances in 2023". The proteomics system created under the leadership of Academician He Fuchu from the Military Medical Research Institute of the Academy of Military Sciences has been selected for the list of important medical achievements in China in the 21st century. This project pioneered an internationally leading proteomics research system, revealing the universal role of acetylation modification in metabolic regulation and the dominant role of cholesterol metabolism reprogramming in the occurrence and development of liver cancer. The new paradigm of "proteomics driven precision medicine" has been proposed and implemented internationally, providing new ideas for research on the prevention and treatment of major diseases. It is understood that "China's Important Medical Achievements in the 21st Century" focuses on the major medical and technological achievements mainly completed by Chinese scholars in this century. It has significant originality and leadership, and has a profound impact on supporting the country's high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and ensuring the major needs of people's health. It has been fully recognized and applied after a long period of evaluation at home and abroad. (Lai Xin She)
