2024-05-11
On the 10th, the 83rd formation, consisting of the Chinese Navy's Qi Jiguang and Jinggangshan ships, carried more than 1200 naval students and officers and soldiers respectively from a military port and a civilian port in Dalian, Liaoning, to carry out long-distance internship missions and visit Cambodia and East Timor. At around 10 o'clock, the 83rd formation slowly departed from the dock amidst the majestic sound of military music. On the deck, students and officers stood in a lively and orderly queue, waving goodbye to their comrades and relatives. The students on this ship internship and visit come from the Dalian Naval Academy and the Naval Submarine Academy of the Navy. Among them, there are 5 foreign military students from the Dalian Naval Academy, who will mix and train with Chinese students throughout the entire process. During the mission, the formation will organize internship training around improving the job skills and comprehensive navigation abilities of the trainees. Based on further solidifying the previous experience of offshore and long-distance internship training, the formation will explore new models, new contents, and new methods of maritime training mixed with professional and comprehensive navigation interns under the conditions of offshore and long-distance internship, and expand the practical teaching platform for maritime internship training. During berthing at foreign ports, the fleet will hold official visits, arrange for students to visit foreign military facilities, hold discussions with foreign military officers and soldiers, and deepen friendship with the visiting people through various forms of communication, showcasing the good image of the Chinese Navy. The Navy's Qi Jiguang ship, as a new type of ocean going comprehensive training ship, has completed more than 7000 naval academy students' navigation internships since its entry into the fleet in 2017. It has visited more than ten countries and regions such as Thailand, Italy, and New Zealand multiple times and has traveled throughout Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The Navy Jinggangshan ship entered service on December 9, 2011 and participated in major missions such as escort, search and rescue, and exercises. (Lai Xin She)
