2024-05-10
Li Qiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, conducted research in Xinjiang from May 7th to 9th. Li Qiang visited Urumqi City, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, and Wujiaqu City of the Sixth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, visiting parks, enterprises, nomadic settlements, and engaging in in-depth exchanges with cadres and masses of all ethnic groups. In Urumqi International Inland Port Area, Li Qiang listened to the report on the construction and operation of the Inland Port Area, watched the real-time situation of the China Europe Express (Urumqi) assembly center, Alashankou and Khorgos ports by video, talked with the staff, and affirmed the implementation effect of customs clearance facilitation. Li Qiang pointed out that Xinjiang is promoting the construction of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, better connecting inland provinces with countries along the route, promoting deepening economic and trade cooperation, and building a bridgehead for opening up to the west. To enhance the function of the China Europe freight train corridor, promote the development of industries along the route, especially promote the construction of key industrial parks, and create a good industrial ecology. Upon learning that the visa free policy has significantly increased the number of people from outside Xinjiang, Li Qiang stated that efforts should be made to strengthen international exchanges and expand cultural exchanges in areas such as commerce, education, healthcare, culture, and tourism. Li Qiang went to companies such as Goldwind Technology, TBEA, Jiushenghe Seed Industry, Changji Yida Textile, Swan Cotton Machinery, and Xinye Energy Chemical to inspect production lines and product displays, gain a detailed understanding of their production research and development, market development, and other situations, and express praise for their innovative development achievements. Li Qiang pointed out that we should adapt to the wave of energy transformation and informatization, based on resource endowments, tap into potential space, vigorously develop characteristic and advantageous industries such as energy, coal chemical industry, agriculture and agricultural product processing, and equipment manufacturing, give full play to the leading role of leading enterprises, and build a complete industrial chain. We must make good use of China's unique advantages in the large market, large engineering, and large applications, support enterprises to increase research and development investment, accelerate technological accumulation and iteration, actively participate in standard formulation, create high-quality brands, accept testing in market competition, and win the initiative. We need to deepen cooperation between the eastern, central, and western regions to better ensure the security of the country's food, energy resources, and important industrial and supply chains. Located in Swan Town, Changji City, there are over 500 households of nomadic herders settling down. Li Qiang came here and walked into the homes of the people, asking in detail whether they lived well, how their income was, whether it was convenient to see a doctor, and whether their children went to school. Li Qiang said that multiple measures should be taken simultaneously to drive the employment and income growth of the people, do a good job in people's livelihood, inherit and develop ethnic culture, promote hand and foot kinship, unity and mutual assistance among people of all ethnic groups, and improve their lives. Li Qiang encouraged local cadres to continue to focus on grassroots governance, better serve the people's livelihood, and maintain social harmony and stability. Ma Xingrui and Wu Zhenglong participated in the research. (Lai Xin She)
