On May 1st this year, Hainan celebrated the 6th anniversary of the implementation of visa free entry policies for 59 countries. Over the past 6 years, over 940000 foreign tourists have entered Hainan through visa free policies, accounting for 82% of the total number of foreign tourists entering the country. At 11:55 am on the same day, the OD614 flight from Malaysia to Haikou, Hainan slowly landed at Meilan International Airport. 117 passengers entered the country through visa free policies and completed customs clearance in just 20 minutes. "This is my first time traveling to Hainan with my family, and the customs clearance is very fast. We look forward to a smooth and enjoyable trip in Hainan," said Xu Kaien, a Malaysian tourist. "Visa free entry into Hainan has become the preferred way for foreign tourists, with over 80% of foreigners coming to Hainan through this policy." Rao Jun, Deputy Director of the Border Inspection Department of Haikou Exit Entry Border Inspection Station, introduced that on May 1, 2018, the visa free range in Hainan increased from 26 countries to 59 countries, and the stay time was extended to 30 days, with visa free restrictions extended to individuals. On February 9th of this year, the National Immigration Administration once again optimized and adjusted the visa free policy, expanding the visa free entry into Hainan from tourism to other short-term reasons for coming to China, such as commerce, visits, family visits, medical treatment, exhibitions, sports and competitions. It is understood that with the continuous optimization and upgrading of visa free policies in 59 countries in Hainan, Hainan continues to resume encrypted overseas routes, with a total of 48 encrypted overseas routes restored. From the distribution of visa free entry countries, currently, foreign personnel entering Hainan without visa are mainly concentrated in South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Russia, and Thailand, accounting for 95.9% of the total number of visa free entry foreigners; From the perspective of entry reasons, currently, foreign nationals entering Hainan without visas are mainly engaged in tourism, family visits, and conference business.
