In 2019, Kulikova was awarded the "Friendship Medal" by China, becoming the second Russian to receive this honor after Russian President Putin. "Studying Chinese history and culture and becoming a sinologist has been my childhood dream," said Kulikova, who has been full of love for China since childhood. Through reading literature, consulting scholars, and interacting with Chinese friends, she gradually deepened her understanding and recognition of China. In 1957, Kulikova, who was still a student at the Moscow Institute of International Relations, participated in the establishment of the Soviet China Friendship Association; In 1960, she joined the Soviet Friendship Association for work; In 1989, she was elected as the First Vice Chairman of the Soviet China Friendship Association... For decades, Kulikova has been engaged in the cause of civil friendship, and at the age of 89, she is still active on the stage of Sino Russian civil diplomacy. Kulikova said that the Soviet China Friendship Association and its successor, the Russia China Friendship Association, have always been committed to promoting the development of Soviet China and Russia China relations. "We have united all the forces around us, including diplomats, politicians, scholars, students, literary workers, etc., by organizing events and inviting them to attend, we strive to maintain friendly relations between the two peoples and maintain the respect of the Russian people for the great neighboring China, including their love and respect for Chinese history and culture." She said that before establishing contact with the China Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, their activities were all self organized. Nevertheless, they still adhere to the original intention of promoting friendship between the two countries. In 1983, the Soviet China Friendship Association was invited by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China Soviet Friendship Association to visit China, with Kulikova participating. Since the end of 1989, Kulikova has served as a representative of the Soviet Union and Russia's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, serving as a counselor at the embassies of the Soviet Union and Russia in China, responsible for civil exchanges, youth, culture, and other work between the two countries. Thanks to the efforts of Kulikova and her colleagues, we have assisted in contacting, planning, and signing hundreds of cultural exchange projects between Russia and China.
