The hydrogen energy industry is a key development direction for China's strategic emerging industries and also a direction for vigorously cultivating the industry in the future. How to seize the new opportunities for hydrogen energy development during the 14th Five Year Plan period has become a focus of attention in the industry. During the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting, guests at the "Hydrogen Industry Technology Innovation and Development Forum" expressed that the global hydrogen energy layout is accelerating, and the importance of hydrogen energy as a clean and low-carbon energy source is becoming increasingly prominent. We should actively explore the path of optimizing and upgrading the energy structure with hydrogen as the core, promote the transformation of the national energy structure towards clean and low-carbon, and help China accelerate its entry into the "hydrogen 2.0 era". "At present, China's hydrogen energy industry has made significant progress and has basically built a relatively complete hydrogen energy 'production storage transmission use' full industry chain, entering a new stage of improving quality and efficiency development." Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Shan Zhongde, introduced in his speech that China has achieved a number of significant achievements in the hydrogen energy field, such as the development of key materials such as industrial hydrogen storage materials and ion exchange membranes, and the cultivation and formation of a group of high-level innovative enterprises. Shan Zhongde stated that the hydrogen energy industry, as a typical future industry, is still in the early stages of industrial development. Next, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will make efforts in three aspects: technological innovation, iterative application, and policy support, continuously improve the hydrogen energy technology innovation system, further expand hydrogen energy application scenarios, deepen international cooperation, continuously promote the high-quality development of the hydrogen energy industry, and accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces. Chen Xuedong, an academician of the CAE Member, said that hydrogen energy plays an important role as an important carrier of energy transformation and a key solution to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. Currently, China has made a series of progress in hydrogen energy storage and transportation equipment technology, but it is also important to clearly recognize the challenges that still exist in this area. At the forum, Han Minfang, a professor at Tsinghua University, director of the Fuel Cell and Energy Storage Research Center, and executive vice chairman of the Zhongguancun Hydrogen Energy Industry Alliance, also shared the multi field applications and development prospects of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology. She stated that SOFC technology, as an efficient clean energy solution, has attracted much attention for its development prospects. Developing SOFC technology with independent intellectual property rights is of great strategic significance in solving the bottleneck problem, promoting national scientific and technological innovation, and economic development. As an international center for scientific and technological innovation, in recent years, Beijing has focused on the entire industrial chain of production, storage, transportation, processing, and utilization, and has continued to make efforts in the development of the hydrogen energy industry. "Hydrogen energy, as an important carrier for achieving deep and clean decarbonization in multiple fields, is an important support for achieving the 'dual carbon' goal." Xu Xinchao, Deputy Secretary General of the Beijing Municipal Government, stated that developing the hydrogen energy industry is an important strategic choice for Beijing to address climate change, cultivate new productive forces, and achieve green and sustainable development. Xu Xinchao introduced that in the next step, Beijing will further play the role of an international science and technology innovation center, coordinate the promotion of policy innovation, industrial cultivation, scene opening, and facility construction in the hydrogen energy field, actively promote the cross regional and cluster coordinated development of the hydrogen energy industry, build leading and internationally first-class hydrogen energy development pilot and demonstration areas, promote comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and strive to play a role in the national carbon peak and carbon neutrality action
