Persisting is the most beautiful scenery in Nansha

2024-04-28

In March, Nansha is still hot. After breakfast, I began to inspect the equipment as usual, removing rust and repainting the top of the radar antenna cover. "Class monitor, let me go." New recruit Zhang Zerun was eager to give it a try. The antenna cover in front of me is over ten meters high, with only one hanging ladder up and down, and almost no place to stand on the top. I feel a bit uneasy, so I decided to go on my own. Hang the safety rope and I climb step by step towards the top of the radar antenna cover. The scorching sun scorched the antenna cover, and even when wearing gloves, the heat still reached the palm of the hand. After 20 minutes, the task was completed and I was already soaked through. Returning to the dormitory, the publicity officer Li Jixiang approached me and once again invited me to participate in the video shooting of the "I am in Nansha, I am Glorious" activity. As a senior sergeant representative, I shared my feelings of rooting in Nansha and making contributions to Nansha with the new comrades. I am a veteran with 30 years of military experience, but I have only been in Nansha for 7 years and do not consider myself the best candidate. Secretary Li said that the story of senior soldiers transferring to Nansha is more inspiring. On second thought, I have dedicated 7 years in Nansha, and Nansha has given me more. The 4 rows of 10 badges on the regular uniform, of which 5 badges were obtained by me in Nansha. In 1994, I boarded a train heading to the military camp. I, who served in the navy, had never seen the sea before. On the train, my heart raced with the unfamiliar sea, filled with longing for the upcoming military life. However, until the end of the new training, I never saw the vast sea and mighty warships I had imagined. Many new comrades choose to board the ship after the new recruits have joined the company. As a sailor, I also want to go out into the ocean with warships and chop the waves, but the "poetry and distance" of sailors is not only about the distant ocean, but also about remote islands and high mountain stations... When I saw that there were few people interested in radar stations, I volunteered to apply and be assigned to a certain radar station. The radar station is located on a mountain slope, although on an island, there is no beautiful scenery of coconut breeze and blue waves. Two to three kilometers around are saline alkali land, scattered with resilient cacti. My passion is still hard to resist the harsh environment and obscure professional knowledge. Old class monitor Wang Jianbao noticed that I was feeling down, so he invited me for a walk after dinner. "When I first arrived, there wasn't even a cactus here," Captain Wang told me. The cactus near the station was planted by them. "The worse the environment, the more resilient we need cactus like resilience to root in saline alkali soil." "Since we arrived in saline alkali soil, let's turn ourselves into cacti, root downwards, and grow upwards." That night, I wrote this sentence in my notebook. A few months later, as I grew up, I became the first soldier of the same year to independently undertake duty tasks. In order to absorb more nutrients, the root system of cacti is often well-developed. After several years of rooting and precipitation, I have also bloomed my own "flowers" - in 1996, I was awarded the title of Excellent Soldier; Two years later, I was admitted to a military academy and became a non commissioned officer. Upon graduation, I was assigned to work at another radar station with a perfect score. Like most radar stations located on deserted high mountain islands and deep forests, the radar station I visited was also located in a remote area with harsh conditions. A place of hardship is also a good place for success. Stay away from the hustle and bustle, let me abandon many diverse thoughts, and be able to calm down
