General Secretary's Visit to Chongqing | Why the Mountain City "Spans Mountains and Seas"
2024-04-28
"The Sichuan Road is three thousand, along a narrow gorge road." In the mountainous city of Chongqing, the mountainous hills account for more than 90% of the city's area. Surrounded by mountains, the Sichuan Road is rugged, and the gorge river is turbulent. However, it always has the courage to climb high and reach far, connecting to the river and the sea. To the west of the main city, there is a gentle valley sandwiched between the two mountain ranges of Zhongliang Mountain and Jinyun Mountain. The Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park is located here. In the afternoon of April 22, General Secretary Xi Jinping, who was on an inspection tour in Chongqing, arrived here at his first stop. 10 years ago, on March 29, 2014, the port of Duisburg, Germany. General Secretary Xi Jinping witnessed the slow entry of a Chinese train loaded with goods. The train departs from this park. After the rain, the park is bustling with activity. The gantry crane keeps lifting and descending, the running trucks shuttle back and forth, various containers are stacked layer by layer, and the train whistle sounds from time to time... The General Secretary rides into the Chongqing Railway Container Center Station in the park, gets off the car, walks through the railway tracks, and walks deep into the container yard. There are two trains on site that are currently undergoing operations. Wang Haixiang, Executive Vice General Manager of the Central Station, told the General Secretary, "The left train is a western land sea new channel train bound for Qinzhou, Guangxi, loaded with automotive parts and chemical products such as soda ash; the right train is a China Europe train bound for Duisburg, Germany, mainly loaded with new energy vehicles and laptops." Since the establishment of the station in 2009, Wang Haixiang has been rooted here, working diligently for 15 years. "From the unknown fourth class station to the now famous first class railway station, we really enjoyed the dividends brought by the the Belt and Road." Wang Haixiang, who witnessed the great changes in the station area, was full of pride. It was from here that in 2011, China's first China Europe freight train "Chongqing New Europe" honked its whistle and headed west; It is from here that in 2017, China's first western land sea new channel train headed south. Nowadays, the China Europe freight train has operated over 87000 trains, reaching 222 cities in 25 European countries; The Western Land Sea New Corridor has covered 503 ports in 121 countries and regions. Early that morning, he received the departure order, honked the flute, released the brake, pushed the forward handle, and the train slowly started... "This is my supreme glory. Previously, trains sent from here could travel as far as Guangzhou, but I never expected that one day they could be directly sent to Europe more than 10000 kilometers away," said Jiang Tong. Time flies, the wheels roll. In the vast hinterland of the continent, the "steel camel caravan" traverses mountains and ridges, and passes through the Gobi desert; The boundless deep blue sea, with giant wheels chopping waves and stars galloping day and night. The ancient Silk Road has been revitalized.
