The first application of my self-developed new nonlinear isolation device
2024-04-19
Recently, a new type of nonlinear isolation device independently developed by China Electric Power Research Institute was first applied in the 220 kV Baishui Substation in Aksu, Xinjiang. This device has overcome the technical difficulties of lightweight structural isolation design and will effectively enhance the seismic safety capability of the secondary cabinet in the main control building of the substation, injecting technological power into the disaster prevention of the power grid. China is a country prone to earthquakes, with approximately 58% of its territory located in strong earthquake zones. These areas are not only high-risk areas for seismic activity, but also important areas for the construction of power energy bases in China. Therefore, the seismic resistance of substation facilities urgently needs to be strengthened. After successfully solving the seismic resistance problem of primary equipment such as transformers, the Institute of Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering of China Academy of Electric Power Sciences has been conducting technical research and development towards more difficult lightweight facility isolation design since 2018. The person in charge of the technology research project, Liu Zhenlin, stated that the isolation design of lightweight structures faces dual challenges of stiffness and sensitivity. Due to the small weight of lightweight structures, it is required that isolation devices must have extremely low stiffness to effectively isolate seismic forces, while also avoiding being overly sensitive due to low stiffness, which may affect the normal operation of equipment. Therefore, the isolation devices of lightweight structures should have accurate identification and protection mechanisms for seismic effects, ensuring accurate response in the event of an earthquake. After in-depth research by the research team, China Electric Power Research Institute has innovatively developed three core technologies: quasi zero stiffness isolation technology, passive protection control technology, and modular splicing application technology. These technologies have achieved the application goals of low stiffness, anti misoperation, and modularization, laying a solid foundation for the development of earthquake disaster prevention technology in power grids. The successful application of the first set of new nonlinear isolation devices not only enhances the seismic safety capability of the secondary cabinets in the main control building of the substation, but also provides new ideas and methods for the seismic design of power grid facilities in China. The promotion and application of this technology is expected to significantly improve the stability and safety of transmission equipment in the event of natural disasters such as earthquakes.
