The ancient city of Xi'an is full of spring. On April 16, the Digital Silk Road Development Forum of the World Internet Conference with the theme of "Connectivity and Common Prosperity" was opened here. More than 800 guests from nearly 50 countries around the world gathered here to talk about enabling the "the Belt and Road" high-quality development with digital technology. At the main forum held on the 16th, attending Chinese and foreign guests engaged in extensive exchanges and discussions on three topics: "Digital Internet Jointly Building the Silk Road", "Silk Road E-commerce International Cooperation", and "Digital Rural and Sustainable Development", promoting all parties to jointly build the "Digital Silk Road" and creating a new platform for international economic cooperation. Standing at the starting point of the ancient Silk Road in Xi'an, from the leisurely camel bells to the digital interconnection and information exchange, the millennium long Silk Road is being endowed with new life and value. Participants believed that, in years of development practice, cooperation in jointly building the "the Belt and Road" has been deepening, digital infrastructure has been continuously consolidated, silk road e-commerce has flourished, digital economic cooperation has been accelerating, digital exchanges for the benefit of the people have been pragmatically promoted, and the construction of the "digital silk road" has achieved remarkable results. Li Junhua, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, believes that as an important part of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the "Digital Silk Road" has played an important role in improving digital connectivity and community capacity building, bridging the digital divide, and promoting sustainable development in the past 10 years. With the development of digital technology, the "Silk Road E-commerce" has become a golden card for the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", opening up new space for international economic and trade cooperation. Li Qingshuang, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that China is vigorously promoting the construction of the "Digital Silk Road" and actively expanding and deepening international cooperation. Currently, there are more than 100000 cross-border e-commerce entities in China, more than 690 cross-border e-commerce industrial parks, and cross-border e-commerce sales networks covering more than 220 countries and regions worldwide. As of October 2023, China has signed memorandums of understanding on e-commerce cooperation with 30 countries and established bilateral e-commerce cooperation mechanisms. The Silk Road e-commerce has shown strong resilience and vitality. The forum held the first cross-border e-commerce seminar on the digital silk road, which attracted participants from 27 countries and regions. The cross-border e-commerce working group of the World Internet Conference also released a set of cross-border e-commerce practice cases, providing practical experience for the innovative development of cross-border e-commerce industry, brand launching, and sharing the development achievements of cross-border e-commerce in the digital era. The Digital Silk Road brings opportunities for jointly building national economic development and industrial digital transformation, and the attending guests are full of confidence in its prospects of "beauty and cooperation". Ding Gumuz Puti, Deputy Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Express Services of Zimbabwe, said that the "Digital Silk Road" provides unprecedented opportunities for Zimbabwe to bridge differences, promote cross-border cooperation, and promote sustainable development. "The 'Digital Silk Road' will open up a new path of progress and prosperity for all participating countries." Besik Bujanishvili, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Georgian Development Foundation, said that Georgia will make good use of its strategic position, actively invest in infrastructure construction, and promote greater success in the 'Digital Silk Road'.
