The first example of irregular and multi curved imitation of clear water concrete canopy made its debut

On the 15th, with the completion of the last coat of paint on the south rain shelter, the overall decorative effect of the rain shelter on the north and south sides of the first phase of the new Shantou Station project was unveiled. From the sky, the giant "diamond" shaped skylight embedded in the center of the roof of Phase I of the station building is shining brightly under the sunlight. The newly built Shantou Station is designed with the concept of "taking off the sea silk and standing in Shantou with tide". It is located on the east side of the existing Shantou Station in Longhu District, Shantou City. It is the intersection point of multiple railway lines, including the Guangzhou Meishan Railway, Xiamen Shenzhen High speed Railway, Meishan High speed Railway, Shantou High speed Railway, and Guangdong East Intercity Railway. It is understood that the arc-shaped rain shelter in the north of the station building is the first domestically produced concrete rain shelter with irregular shapes, multiple curves, and fully cast in place arches resembling clear water. Its building area is 18000 square meters, with a curved shell spanning 10 arches, resembling layers of waves. How to understand the concept of "irregular shapes and multiple melodies"? Di Chunfeng, the commander of the new Shantou Station project of China Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd., introduced that due to changes in the track alignment of the station's high-speed yard, conventional speed yard, and main line, the size of each span of the rain shelter varies, ranging from 12 meters to 24 meters, with a maximum arch diameter of nearly 19 meters, a maximum arch height of over 3 meters, and nearly 500 types of beam and slab curvatures. This poses great challenges for construction. "Traditional construction generally chooses finished channel steel and steel wood keel as the support system, which is not suitable for such complex arc shaped multi curvature and variable cross-section structures." Di Chunfeng said that the structure "skeleton" of the North Canopy is composed of 236 arc beams with unequal curvature radii and arc lengths. To achieve overall multi curvature control of the arc, the fundamental way is to control the curvature of the main keel. In order to find an economically applicable template support system, the project team chose I-beam as the main keel material with better plasticity and bearing capacity, and used 3D modeling technology to determine the machining dimensions one by one, so that the curvature error of each circular beam does not exceed 2 millimeters. The team abandons the traditional irregular structure fixed steel film scheme and adopts an 8mm ultra-thin curved soft film with better turnover. It is precisely processed and formed by an automatic CNC bending machine, controlling the installation accuracy error at the millimeter level to ensure a tight fit between the template and the keel. Why choose imitation plain concrete as the main material for the rain shelter? Di Chunfeng introduced: "In coastal environments, compared to steel structure canopies, simulated clear water concrete canopies have better resistance to hydrochloric acid, corrosion, and typhoon, which is conducive to reducing maintenance difficulties during operation." Moreover, simulated clear water concrete canopies do not require surface decoration, and the structure is directly exposed, with uniform color and smooth texture. In order to seek a balance between physical quality and appearance, the project team conducted 30 sets of prototype pouring tests, tested more than a hundred times to mix plain concrete, and finally determined the optimal mix proportion scheme. All structures of the canopy are cast on site. The project team innovatively developed a symmetrical reciprocating stepped pouring process, effectively avoiding the influence of concrete fluidity, achieving zero construction cold joints and zero structural leakage, and achieving a molding effect that integrates precision, refinement, and beauty. Nan Fei, the project leader of China Railway Construction's new Shantou Station project, said, "At present, the project is in the stage of indoor and outdoor decoration and renovation, and more than 1600 builders are working hard to make their appearance on the exterior facade." The construction of the new Shantou Station building is divided into two phases: the first phase is to build a new East Station building, and the second phase is to renovate and expand the existing West Station building. After completion, the total scale of the station will reach 11 units and 24 lines, which will become the land of East Guangdong
