On April 13th, the 2024 Academic Annual Conference of the Civil Procedure Law Research Association of the China Law Society was held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The theme of this academic annual conference is "Construction of the Practical Law System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Civil Procedure Practice". Wang Qijiang, a member of the Party Group and Vice President of the China Law Society, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Wang Qijiang emphasized that accelerating the construction of China's independent legal knowledge system for civil litigation has important historical, theoretical, and practical significance, and is an important responsibility and mission for current civil litigation lawyers in China. Jing Hanchao, Vice President of the China Law Society and President of the Civil Procedure Law Research Association, pointed out that serving practice and solving practical problems are the primary functions of legal research. Practical law is an effective path to make up for the shortcomings of existing theoretical research and solve the problem of disconnection between theoretical research and judicial practice. Party Secretary and President of the Higher People's Court of Heilongjiang Province, Party Guangsuo, Party Secretary and Prosecutor General of the People's Procuratorate of Heilongjiang Province, Liu Yongzhi, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and Party Secretary of the Provincial Law Society, Fan Zhongzhong, and President and Professor Wang Jingbo of Heilongjiang University delivered welcoming speeches. Pan Jianfeng, Executive Vice President of the Civil Procedure Law Research Association of the China Law Society and Professor of the Law School of Peking University, presided over the opening ceremony. The conference is hosted by the Civil Procedure Law Research Association of the Chinese Law Society, hosted by the Law School of Heilongjiang University, and co organized by Heilongjiang Huaqian Law Firm. Nearly 400 experts, scholars, and legal practitioners from higher education institutions, research institutions, political and legal institutions, legal service institutions, and news organizations across the country attended the conference.
