China calls for strengthened cooperation in the trade of information and communication technology products at the World Trade Organization
2024-04-12
On April 11th, China submitted a proposal to the World Trade Organization to maintain the good operation and enhance the relevance of the Information Technology Agreement, calling for strengthened cooperation on the trade of information and communication technology products, which received widespread response from members. The Chinese side pointed out that the Information Technology Agreement provides an open, transparent, and predictable global trade environment for the trade of information and communication technology products, greatly promoting the trade of information and communication technology products and the dissemination of related technologies. In recent years, the global information and communication technology industry has developed rapidly, and all parties look forward to further strengthening cooperation among WTO members, promoting WTO related work to keep up with the times, better reflecting the latest development status of the industry, and further promoting the trade of related products. Therefore, the Chinese side suggests that the World Trade Organization release an annual global trade report on information and communication technology products, striving to eliminate trade barriers related to products, and further strengthening communication and exchange between the industry and policy makers. Relevant members actively evaluated the Chinese proposal, believing it to be constructive and positive, and are willing to further explore and refine relevant work with the Chinese side.
