"Blue Helmet Angel" Contributes Chinese Strength to Safeguarding World Peace with Youth and Passion

Mali in West Africa is one of the most dangerous peacekeeping mission areas for the United Nations. In December 2013, at the request of the United Nations, China sent its first peacekeeping force to Mali. For the past 10 years, batches of Chinese medical teams have been rushing to the peacekeeping battlefield in Mali year by year, continuously contributing Chinese strength to maintaining world peace with their youth and passion. On the peacekeeping battlefield, Chinese medical team members are fearless and united, using superb medical skills to treat patients, and have won widespread praise, affectionately known as the "Blue Helmets Angel". On December 4, 2013, the first batch of Chinese peacekeeping medical teams to Mali arrived at the Marigao Camp after a long-distance flight of over 20 hours. 70 medical team members immediately leveled the site and built prefabricated houses... After four and a half months of unremitting efforts, the Chinese peacekeeping second level hospital in Mali was built and opened for consultation ahead of schedule. On the afternoon of April 26, 2014, three armored ambulances drove into the second level peacekeeping hospital in Mali, China. The deputy captain of the medical team, Zhu Siqiang, who organized the classification of the injured on site, carefully inspected the condition of the injured and issued instructions for the diversion of the injured one after another. After nearly 7 hours of intensive emergency treatment, all injured individuals were properly admitted and monitored. Zhu Siqiang said that Mali is one of the most dangerous peacekeeping areas in the world, and it is unknown when it will be attacked by terrorism. As a member of the peacekeeping medical team, while doing a good job in self-defense, it is also necessary to always be prepared to treat the wounded. In the early morning of one day, five foreign peacekeeping officers and soldiers were attacked by roadside bombs and were injured in fierce clashes with anti-government forces. After receiving the rescue order, the medical team risked the risk of being attacked at any time and immediately rushed out to treat the injured. After returning to the hospital, five surgeries were carried out simultaneously, clearing wounds, removing shrapnel, and suturing wounds for the injured. After more than 50 hours of continuous fighting, the medical team members finally left with peace of mind until all the injured were out of danger. "War injury rescue, no minute can be delayed!" said Li Li, the head nurse of the 8th batch of peacekeeping medical teams in Mali. In order to win the opportunity for treatment, she and the medical team always maintain a state of charge. At midnight one day, a combat transport company of the peacekeeping force encountered a roadside bomb attack while carrying out its mission, resulting in the destruction of one vehicle and injuries to four peacekeeping personnel. After the duty room medical staff initiated the call, Li Li, who had woken up from her sleep, rushed to the treatment area as soon as possible. After quickly putting on protective gear, she rushed into the reception room and led the nurses to complete the preparation work before the rescue. After the injured were delivered, they immediately threw themselves into debridement, bandaging, and surgery. After dealing with the injury, the sky has already brightened. They didn't care about rest and walked up to the rescue station on time early in the morning. In Marigao, our peacekeeping medical team's "Air Evacuation" team is the only airborne ambulance assault force. Over the years, they have been either saving lives or preparing to save lives. On the afternoon of March 15, 2023, a peacekeeping soldier carrying out explosive disposal operations in the Gao area suddenly fell ill and his life was in danger. After receiving the order, the "Air Transport Evacuation" team immediately carried emergency equipment and medicine, boarded a medical helicopter, and flew to the scene at high speed. In order to fight for treatment time, they are entering
