On March 25th, the cultural relic donation ceremony of the Taiwan Chinese Buddhist Association was held at the National Museum of China. Song Tao, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Sun Yeli, Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Master Xinbao, Chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Buddhist Association, delivered speeches at the ceremony and jointly unveiled the cultural relics. Li Qun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Director of the National Cutural Heritage Administration, issued a certificate of thanks to the Taiwan Buddhist Association of the Chinese World. In September 2023, the National Cutural Heritage Administration learned that the Taiwan Buddhist Federation of China planned to donate 30 clay colored sculptures of Buddhism that had been lost overseas. Through the concerted efforts of both sides, the cultural relics and artworks donated by Taiwan were safely transported to the mainland in February 2024. This donation is the largest donation of cultural relics and artworks by Taiwanese compatriots in recent years. It is a new achievement of cultural relics cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, showcasing the blood and family ties of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the strong appeal and cohesion of Chinese culture. These 30 painted Buddha statues are cultural relics from the Song, Jin, Ming, and Qing dynasties, including Buddha heads, Buddha seated statues, Bodhisattva standing statues, etc. They use various techniques to shape the body and demeanor of each Buddhist holy statue, which is a vivid witness to the brilliant and colorful Chinese culture. The relevant person in charge of the National Cutural Heritage Administration said that he would continue to promote the recovery and return of lost cultural relics in the future, and hoped that with the support of compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, overseas Chinese and people friendly to China, he could help more lost cultural relics "go home".
