The 2023 Satisfaction Report on Cultural Development of Chinese Residents The people are not only participants in cultural construction, but also beneficiaries of cultural construction achievements. People's recognition and satisfaction are important testing standards for evaluating cultural development. To this end, the research team of the 2023 Residents' Satisfaction Survey on Cultural Development, a major innovation project of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, conducted a survey, analyzed the current situation of cultural development in China and the satisfaction level of the Chinese people with cultural development, and proposed countermeasures and suggestions. According to the data, the 2023 Residents' Satisfaction Survey on Cultural Development was conducted in urban and rural areas of 31 provinces, regions, and cities across China. A probability random sampling survey was used to select 248 counties (districts) nationwide, and a total of 35668 valid questionnaires were obtained. The main results of the survey are as follows: The overall satisfaction and confidence of the public towards the development of Chinese culture are high. Under the strong leadership of the Party in cultural construction, cultural development has been widely recognized and highly praised by the people. Nearly 80% of the respondents (79.55%) believe that the overall level of cultural development in China has continued to improve since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China; More than 80% of the respondents (84.28%) expressed "I am proud and proud of Chinese culture", and more than 80% (85.3%) believe that the cultural confidence of Chinese people will further improve in the next decade. In addition, highly educated, high-income groups, and the younger generation have a more positive expectation of the future international influence of Chinese culture. The public loves the excellent traditional Chinese culture and the main melody culture, and generally prefers literary works with a Chinese cultural background. They believe that Chinese culture can be integrated with foreign cultures. Research shows that over 80% of respondents (81.13%) love excellent traditional Chinese culture, and nearly 80% (77.50%) love the main theme culture. The box office data of domestic films also confirms the above conclusion. In recent years, domestic films have performed brilliantly. The films that rank top at the box office in China are all domestic films. Some Hollywood films have been "crushed" by domestic films. In 2023, North American high box office films Barbie and Oppenheimer will not enter the top ten in the box office in mainland China. Domestic films such as Man Jianghong, Wandering Earth 2, and Chang'an 30000 Li have performed well. This is vastly different from the situation more than a decade ago when Hollywood movies were dominated by one family.
