The construction of Asia's first deep-water jacket, "Haiji 2," has been completed
2024-03-13
On the 12th, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced that the first deepwater jacket in Asia, "Haiji 2," independently designed and built by China, has been completed at the Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment Manufacturing Base in Guangdong. Haiji 2 has broken multiple Asian records in terms of structural height, weight, operating water depth, and construction speed. The average depth of the sea area where "Haiji 2" operates is about 324 meters, and the total height of the jacket is 338.5 meters, exceeding the height of the main building of Beijing International Trade Phase III, with a total weight of 37000 tons. The amount of steel used is close to that of the National Stadium "Bird's Nest". Therefore, it faces a series of technical challenges such as foundation settlement, large-scale lifting, weight and size control, loading and transportation, and installation. "The project team has collaborated with domestic steel companies to jointly develop a new type of 420 megapascals ultra high strength steel thick plate suitable for marine engineering." Fu Dianfu, Vice President of the Engineering Research and Design Institute of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, introduced that "Haiji 2" has applied over 20000 tons of S420 grade high-strength steel. Through the application of this innovative material, not only has it overcome the key technology of lightweight design for ultra large marine platforms, but it has also enabled "Haiji 2" to... " The successful weight reduction of the jacket by 5000 tons saved billions of yuan in material and ship renovation costs, and opened up a new path for the large-scale application of domestically produced high-strength steel in marine engineering. This project coordinates high-quality resources for technical breakthroughs, comprehensively mastering the complete set of independent design and construction technology for over 300 meter deep water jacket. The construction of the jacket was completed in just 26 months, with key dimensional accuracy controlled within 5 millimeters, setting a new record for the speed and accuracy of constructing ultra large deepwater jackets in Asia. For the first time in China, the "Haiji 2" successfully increased the water depth of the jacket platform application to over 300 meters, which can significantly reduce development investment, engineering construction, and production costs, making it possible to develop a large number of potential deepwater marginal oil fields, and opening up a new path for economically and effectively developing oil and gas resources in China's mid to deep water areas. It is understood that "Haiji No. 2" is planned to be installed offshore in the near future. After completion, it will serve as the second development project of Liuhua 11-1/4-1 Oilfield, China's first deep-water oilfield in the the Pearl River Mouth Basin, to promote the old deep-water oilfield of 100 million tons to glow with new vitality and inject new energy into the economic and social development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
