2024-03-05
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated on the 4th that with the continuous expansion of China's visa free "circle of friends", the number of foreign tourists visiting China has significantly increased. China welcomes more foreign friends to come to China and will continue to strive to provide them with a safe, comfortable, and convenient travel environment. At the regular press conference that day, a reporter asked: According to reports, on March 1st, the China Thailand Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement officially came into effect. Data shows that on that day, the number of tourist orders from Thailand to China increased by three times year-on-year, exceeding 160% compared to the same period in 2019. As the enthusiasm of foreign tourists to China gradually increases, what assistance will China provide to facilitate their visit to China? Mao Ning said that with the continuous expansion of China's visa free "circle of friends", the number of foreign tourists coming to China has significantly increased. During the Spring Festival, the number of inbound tourists reached 3.23 million, with a significant increase in the number of newly added visa free tourists entering China from countries such as France, Germany, Malaysia, and Singapore. The total number of inbound tourism orders for these countries during the Spring Festival has doubled compared to the same period in 2019. Mao Ning stated that in order to facilitate the exchange of Chinese and foreign personnel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched the "three reductions and three exemptions" policy, which includes reducing the content of visa application forms, reducing visa fees in stages, simplifying the approval procedures for studying in China, exempting some applicant fingerprints, exempting visa appointments, and implementing unilateral visa exemption policies for countries such as France and Germany. To solve the problem of mobile payment difficulties for foreign personnel, the People's Bank of China guides payment institutions to improve card binding efficiency, simplify identity verification arrangements, and increase the limit of single mobile payment transactions; Beijing promotes the upgrading and renovation of key commercial districts, scenic spots, parks, and hotels with the ability to accept foreign cards, and establishes demonstration zones for overseas guest payment services at Capital International Airport and Daxing International Airport; Shanghai has opened wildcard POS machines in three-star and above hotels, 3A and above tourist attractions, and other places. In addition, several major telecommunications operators have added multiple service outlets at airport ports in major cities to facilitate the entry of foreign personnel to obtain mobile phone numbers. "We welcome more foreign friends to come to China and will continue to strive to provide them with a safe, comfortable, and convenient travel environment," said Mao Ning. (Lai Xin She)
