Chinese Government's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui Holds Talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Galuzin
2024-03-04
On the evening of March 2, 2024, the Chinese government's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs, Li Hui, arrived in Moscow to initiate the second round of shuttle diplomacy in the Ukrainian crisis. That evening, Special Representative Li Hui held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Galuzin to exchange in-depth views on China Russia relations and the Ukrainian crisis. Both sides agree that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, as well as the beginning of the China Russia Cultural Year. Both sides should take the important consensus reached by the two heads of state as the fundamental basis to promote the continued development of bilateral relations. Li Hui stated that the Ukrainian crisis has escalated comprehensively for two years. Historical experience has shown that any conflict ultimately needs to be resolved through negotiation. The sharper the contradiction, the more we cannot give up on dialogue efforts. China is willing to continue to work hard to promote peace talks, mediate and gather consensus among Russia, Ukraine and relevant parties, and promote the final political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. Galuzin agrees that the Ukrainian crisis ultimately needs to be resolved through negotiation, appreciates China's unique and constructive role in this regard, highly evaluates China's second round of shuttle diplomacy, and hopes to continue to strengthen communication with China.
