2024-02-29
The new round of Palestinian Israeli conflict, which has lasted for several months, has caused nearly 30000 civilian deaths and nearly two million people to be displaced, which is regrettable. On this occasion, the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council opened in Geneva, Switzerland on the 26th. Representatives from various countries will examine, discuss, and address the issue of human rights, which is closely related to everyone on Earth. The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Over 70 years have passed, and the world still faces severe challenges in terms of injustice, intolerance, and instability. The development of the world's human rights cause and global human rights governance are also facing severe challenges. It is the common responsibility of the international community to protect the human rights of every nation and individual in a fair, equal, and effective manner. To achieve the beautiful vision of "everyone enjoying human rights", countries should practice true multilateralism, uphold democracy and equality, and promote global human rights governance towards a more fair, just, reasonable, and inclusive direction. Relying on controlling their dominant discourse power and occupying a dominant position in multilateral human rights institutions, some Western countries instigate confrontation and launch wars, creating a large number of humanitarian crises and infringing on the human rights and well-being of innocent people. At the same time, they empower themselves, frequently criticize the human rights situation of other countries, illegally impose unilateral sanctions on them, manipulate human rights issues for group confrontation and political suppression. These chaos question human conscience and erode the fundamental values of human rights. ?? On February 24th, in the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, people inspected the damage caused by Israeli airstrikes. According to a report by the Palestinian news agency on the 24th, the Israeli army heavily bombed the southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 15 deaths. At the same time, the international influence of developing countries is constantly increasing, and there is a growing demand for enhancing their voice and representation, as well as participating in the transformation of global human rights governance structures. As the dominant force in global multilateral cooperation and governance of human rights, United Nations human rights institutions should carry out their work impartially and objectively, uphold the principles of non selectivity and non politicization, and become a platform for all countries, regardless of size, strength, wealth, and status, to participate in constructive exchanges and cooperation on an equal footing, rather than engaging in group politics and factional confrontation on the battlefield. In his opening speech, the President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, Francis, listed a series of regional conflicts and humanitarian crises, urging all parties to build the Human Rights Council as a platform for resolving issues through dialogue and cooperation. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Turk, stated at the opening ceremony that all countries should ensure full and equal participation in global governance. To achieve the beautiful vision of "human rights for all", countries should oppose the promotion of hegemonism and power politics, defend fairness and justice, and prevent "human rights" from becoming political tools. For a long time, some Western countries have mixed political factors and double standards in human rights issues, ignoring their own domestic human rights issues while interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and containing their development under the guise of "human rights". The United States, which has always regarded itself as a "defender of human rights", disregards the lives of the people of Gaza. It not only repeatedly obstructs the Security Council from passing resolutions calling for a ceasefire, but also continuously provides military aid to Israel; The illegal wars and military actions launched since 2001 have caused
