On the 26th, the first day of school, the 2024 "Mobile Science Course" jointly launched by the China Science and Technology Museum, the Ministry of Education Publicity and Education Center and Tiktok was launched in Guangxi. Tiktok's science popularization talents, together with the science popularization caravans in the central and western regions, went to rural schools and carried out a series of science popularization activities to bring high-quality science popularization resources to areas with weak scientific education foundation. In addition, the selected science popularization knowledge videos from the platform will also be uploaded in the form of theme collections to the national mobile science popularization facility service platform, open for use by rural schools. Currently, rural schools are still plagued by problems such as the scarcity of science education resources in remote areas, uneven professional abilities of science teachers, and insufficient guarantee of experimental teaching conditions. To address the shortcomings of science education in rural areas, it is necessary to leverage multiple social resources to promote innovative projects that integrate social practice with primary and secondary school education activities. With the popularity of short videos, high-quality popular science content on Tiktok is often used by parents and teachers as "cloud courseware", so that children in rural areas can more easily obtain relevant scientific knowledge. Therefore, in this event, science popularization venues, education departments, and short video platforms worked together to combine high-quality resources such as scientists, science popularization experts, and "cloud courseware" with modern science popularization resources in the science museum system. They went deep into the grassroots, entered towns, and brought "mobile science courses" to rural youth. On the afternoon of 26th, Liu Jiaqi, a volcanologist and Quaternary geologist, and an academician of the CAS Member, gave a lecture titled "Our Homeland - Earth" to the teachers and students of Liuwei Town Central School in Nanning, Guangxi. Liu Jiaqi stated in an interview that science popularization requires special efforts at the grassroots level. Currently, science popularization caravans and "mobile science courses" reach a wider audience at the grassroots level, which is a very good form. It is understood that as an important carrier of "mobile science courses", the science popularization caravan is an important component of the modern science and technology museum system. Since its launch in 2000, a total of 1764 vehicles have been distributed nationwide, 413000 activities have been carried out, the driving distance is 55.811 million kilometers, and 353 million grassroots public have been served. Over the years, science popularization vans have fully leveraged their outstanding advantages of strong mobility, wide coverage, and deep involvement in grassroots work, gradually becoming an important carrier and lever for grassroots science popularization.
