On the morning of February 21st, the 46th batch of naval escort squadrons set sail from a military port in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, heading to the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters to replace the 45th batch of escort squadrons in carrying out escort missions. The 46th batch of naval escort formations consists of missile destroyer Jiaozuo, missile frigate Xuchang, and comprehensive supply ship Honghu. Carrying 2 shipborne helicopters and dozens of special operations personnel, with a total of over 700 mission officers and soldiers. Since the first escort operation of the Chinese Navy in 2008, a total of more than 150 vessels have been dispatched to the Gulf of Aden, ensuring the safe navigation of protected ships and demonstrating the good image of China as a responsible major country through practical actions. The 46th batch of escort formation command ships is the missile destroyer Jiaozuo, with hull number 163. It is a new type of missile destroyer independently researched, designed and built by China, capable of carrying out diversified tasks such as regional air defense, sea assault, and anti submarine search. Since joining the list, we have completed dozens of tasks including offshore training, combat readiness patrols, and various exercise exercises. The missile frigate Xuchang, hull number 536, is a new type of missile frigate independently researched, designed and built by China. It has strong warning and detection capabilities, as well as comprehensive combat capabilities in various aspects such as shore, sea, air, and anti submarine. Since joining the list, we have successfully completed multiple major training tasks and participated in the execution of the 31st batch of escort missions in 2018. The comprehensive supply ship Honghu, hull number 906, is a new type of ocean going comprehensive supply ship independently researched, designed and built by China. It mainly undertakes the task of accompanying supply support for the formation and can provide various supplies to the ship formation through various means. It has the characteristics of fast supply speed, multiple adaptable ship types, and high support efficiency. It has carried out escort missions in the 25th and 37th batches. (Lai Xin She)
