Multiple technology companies around the world have signed agreements related to artificial intelligence ethics

Lenovo Group, Microsoft and other global technology companies signed an agreement in Slovenia on the 5th, promising to comply with UNESCO's ethical recommendations on artificial intelligence. UNESCO Director General Azoule stated that in November 2021, UNESCO adopted the Recommendation on Ethical Issues in Artificial Intelligence. "Today, we have taken another important step and received the same practical commitment from global technology companies.". More than 50 countries and regions have participated in the implementation and multilateral cooperation of the Recommendation on Ethical Issues in Artificial Intelligence. Since the adoption of this proposal, UNESCO has been promoting cooperation with the private sector and has also established an Artificial Intelligence Ethics Business Committee, co chaired by Microsoft and Telekom Spain. These companies include Lenovo Group, Microsoft, LG Artificial Intelligence Research and Development, INNIT, Saftek, and Telekom Spain. The agreement signed this time requires companies to conduct due diligence in the design, development, purchase, sales, and use of artificial intelligence to meet safety standards, identify adverse effects of artificial intelligence, and take timely measures to prevent, mitigate, or remedy these effects in accordance with domestic legislation. The agreement was signed during the second Global Artificial Intelligence Ethics Forum held in Slovenia, hosted by UNESCO. (Lai Xin She)
