On the Changes of the Three Realms Stele: Observations on the 10th Anniversary of Coordinated Development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei

2024-02-02

Looking at three places at a glance, reading two steles for ten years. At the junction of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei provinces and cities, two stone tablets that distinguish different administrative divisions geographically have become the historical coordinates of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, which is geographically close and closely related. Over the past 10 years, under the "Three Realms Monument", neighboring villages, townships, and development zones have developed and revitalized, coexisting and integrating, reflecting the "great changes" of the times. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the proposal of the national strategy for coordinated development in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, Xinhua News Agency reporters revisited two Three Realms Monuments and looked back at the ten-year path of cooperation. The road to development and revitalization came back from a meeting of the township government, driving on the "Qianlong Road". Liu Haiyan, the village chief of Qianganjian Village in Douziyu Township, Chengde City, sighed all the way - building roads, drinking water, and becoming rich. Now, all three wishes of himself and his fellow villagers that were made more than ten years ago have been fulfilled one by one. In Liu Haiyan's view, this road that has been frequently traveled for the past decade is a path of development and revitalization. The two Three Boundary Monuments visited by Xinhua News Agency reporters this time are located at the junction of Pinggu in Beijing, Jizhou in Tianjin, and Chengde in Hebei. One of them is situated on the site of the Great Wall beacon tower, with beautiful mountain scenery and pleasant ecology. However, ten years ago, there was a huge difference in development levels among the three regions. Qianganjian Village in Douziyu Township, Xinglong County, Chengde City, located under the Sanjie Monument, was once a provincial-level impoverished village. "Difficulty in drinking water, inconvenient transportation, and even long-term detours to Tianjin and Beijing from the village to the township government are necessary," said Liu Haiyan. "The biggest wish of the villagers is to repair the road, especially to open up the 6-kilometer section from Qianganjian Village to Longmen Village.". "The coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei has brought us visible benefits," said Liu Haiyan. With the joint support of the three regions, the construction of this road has accelerated and it was opened to traffic by the end of 2014. Our village is prosperous because of roads, and water supply is no longer a problem. With the increasing popularity of tourism at the Sanjie Monument, many villagers have started homestays and embarked on the road to prosperity. Another Sanjie Monument is located at the junction of Tongzhou in Beijing, Wuqing in Tianjin, and Langfang in Hebei. Under the Sanjie Monument, Lishangtun Village in Dawangguzhuang Town, Wuqing, has always been looking forward to a road to "go out". Chaotian pepper is a characteristic agricultural product in the village, but the villagers are very worried: the road is difficult to walk and cannot be transported out, and the buyers are even more unwilling to come in. "The best thing can only rot in the ground," recalled villager Hu Qitian. The curtain of coordinated development in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region has opened, and the villagers have welcomed the dawn of hope. Not only is the new passage to Beijing, such as Gaowang Road, fully open to traffic, but the smooth road has also been built to the doorstep. Villagers only need a small car to solve the problem of agricultural products going out. Soon, the Chaotian pepper here became a star product. Chaotian pepper's "rebirth from the cocoon" is a vivid epitome of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region driving industrial development into the "fast lane" through transportation. In the past decade, in addition to the gradually disappearing "dead end roads", the three regions of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei have woven a dense "transportation network". The Tianjin Shijiazhuang and Tangcheng expressways have been fully connected, and the Tianjin Baotou Railway, Beijing Tang Intercity Railway, Beijing Bin Intercity North Section, and Tianjin Xing Railway have been successively built and opened to traffic. The Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, connected by two Three Realms Monuments, is continuously consolidating its high-quality development momentum and striving to achieve industrial synergy on the basis of rapidly improving infrastructure
