China ranks 9th in the Global Digital Education Development Index

On the 31st, at the closing ceremony of the 2024 World Digital Education Conference, the Global Digital Education Development Index was officially released. China's index ranking has jumped from 24th to 9th, advancing 15 places. The Global Digital Education Development Index is a comprehensive index developed by the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences to evaluate the overall development level of digital education in various countries, based on an evidence-based evaluation paradigm. In the past three years, China has made significant progress in three aspects: digital resource construction and application, digital literacy cultivation, and digital education system construction through the implementation of the national education digitalization strategy. Especially by leveraging the comparative advantages of digital education development and building the world's largest education resource center - the National Smart Education Public Service Platform, we have achieved a leapfrog development in the large-scale application of public digital education resources. At the same time, China has also made significant progress in the digitization of digital literacy and educational governance for teachers and students through the implementation of a series of promotion measures in a relatively short period of time. On the 31st, the magazine "Frontiers of Digital Education (in English)" announced its inaugural publication. This magazine is an all English quarterly, managed by the Ministry of Education of China and sponsored by Higher Education Press. The journal focuses on interdisciplinary research in the fields of digital technology and education, focusing on topics such as the application of artificial intelligence in education, augmented reality and virtual reality in education, data analysis and learning analytics, online and blended learning, mobile learning and micro learning, digital equity and educational inclusiveness. The parallel conference on "Education Digitalization and Learning Society Construction" of the 2024 World Digital Education Conference was held in Shanghai on the 30th. More than 240 representatives from education departments, universities, and research institutions from 35 countries and regions attended the conference. At the meeting, the process of China's promotion of a learning society as a national strategy was introduced, and China's plans, experiences, and actions for building a learning society were shared.
