According to the work report of the three provinces and one city government, the total economic output of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui exceeded the 30 trillion yuan mark in 2023, further enhancing their support for high-quality development in the country. The Yangtze River Delta is one of the most active, open, and innovative regions in China's economic development. Since 2018, the proportion of GDP in the Yangtze River Delta region to the country has remained at around 24%, showing a stable development trend. Three provinces and one city, with a land area of 4%, have created nearly a quarter of the country's total economic output. The latest released statistical data shows that in 2023, Shanghai's GDP reached 4.72 trillion yuan, Jiangsu's GDP reached 12.82 trillion yuan, Zhejiang's GDP reached 8.26 trillion yuan, Anhui's GDP reached 4.71 trillion yuan, and the regional economic total exceeded the 30 trillion yuan mark. Not only has the total economic output achieved breakthroughs, but the progress made by the Yangtze River Delta region in accelerating innovative development and optimizing economic structure is also commendable: in 2023, Shanghai has started construction of 58 major industrial projects worth over 1 billion yuan, and the C919 domestically produced large passenger aircraft and the first domestically produced large cruise ship have achieved commercial operation; The high-quality development index of Jiangsu's manufacturing industry reached 91.9, ranking first in the country; The added value of the manufacturing industry, the core industry of Zhejiang's digital economy, increased by 8.3% year-on-year; The production of new energy vehicles in Anhui Province reached 868000 units, a year-on-year increase of 60.5%. Wang Zhen, Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, said, "Since 2023, the three provinces and one city have been working together to promote the reform and innovation of the regional integration development system and mechanism, gathering regional scientific and technological forces, focusing on key areas and key links such as integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, and artificial intelligence, and jointly building a regional scientific and technological innovation community, achieving a series of breakthrough results in continuously promoting high-quality integration development in the Yangtze River Delta.", Three provinces and one city have all proposed new measures. As proposed by Shanghai, in 2024, we will accelerate the construction of the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor and the Shanghai Nanjing Industrial Innovation Belt, and work together to create a development community in the Yangtze River Delta region; Jiangsu proposes to plan and construct the Yangtze River Estuary Industrial Innovation Collaborative Zone to promote the integrated development of coastal ports and the Shanghai International Shipping Center hub; Zhejiang Province has proposed to accelerate the construction of projects such as the Yangtze River Delta Air Cargo Hub, the Yangtze River Delta China Europe freight train assembly center, and the Tongsu Jiayong Railway. Anhui Province proposes to strengthen the joint protection and governance of the ecological environment, and initiate the construction of the Yangtze River Delta (Anhui) ecological green health and wellness base.
