The 2024 National Conference of Directors of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Beijing from January 22nd to 23rd. The reporter learned from the meeting that the total diagnosis and treatment volume of traditional Chinese medicine medical and health institutions in China is expected to reach 1.28 billion people in 2023, achieving stable growth. Yu Yanhong, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that China actively promotes the expansion and sinking of high-quality medical resources and regional balanced layout, and the service capacity of traditional Chinese medicine has been newly improved. As of the end of 2023, China has included 14 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in the creation units of national medical centers, and has laid out and constructed 27 national regional medical centers for traditional Chinese medicine. We will continue to promote the construction of 62 flagship hospitals for the coordination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, as well as 138 key hospitals with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics. Positive progress has been made in the construction of a high-quality and efficient traditional Chinese medicine service system. At the same time, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine has taken the construction of county-level traditional Chinese medicine hospitals as the leading force to strengthen the grassroots network, supporting 440 county-level traditional Chinese medicine hospitals to build "two specialties and one center", promoting the matching assistance of third level hospitals to 699 county-level traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, and achieving basic full coverage of traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in 23 provinces. It has promoted the improvement of service capabilities of traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine pavilions, greatly enhancing the accessibility of traditional Chinese medicine services. In terms of traditional Chinese medicine education and talent team construction, we have launched a new era of Western medicine learning and training for outstanding talents in traditional Chinese medicine. We have strengthened the process management and achievement exchange of projects such as Qihuang scholars, innovative teams, and outstanding talents. The first batch of 98 Qihuang scholars have passed the acceptance inspection. Strengthen the training of grassroots traditional Chinese medicine talents, recruit 1690 undergraduate students majoring in targeted traditional Chinese medicine from rural areas, and cultivate more than 20000 backbone talents in traditional Chinese medicine museums. The meeting pointed out that in 2024, we should take the in-depth implementation of the major project of revitalizing and developing traditional Chinese medicine as the starting point, adhere to the principles of integrity and innovation, promote deepening reforms, strengthen overall planning and coordination, focus on connotation construction, leverage our unique advantages, and accelerate the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine.
