On January 17th, the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that preliminary calculations showed that the gross domestic product (GDP) for the whole year of 2023 was 126058.2 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% compared to the previous year at constant prices. Among the 12 provinces mentioned above, 9 provinces have a GDP growth rate that surpasses the national average. Liu Xiangdong, Deputy Director of the Economic Research Department of the China International Economic Exchange Center, told reporters that in the process of sustained economic recovery and development, the economic growth rate of multiple provinces has exceeded the national economic growth rate, and the total economic output has reached a new level, reflecting the multiple measures taken by various regions to stimulate market vitality and strive to restore regional economy. Last year, the total GDP of multiple provinces reached a new high. From the perspective of total GDP, out of the 12 provinces that have already released their economic data for the whole year of 2023, several provinces have reached a new level of GDP. Among them, Shandong, Sichuan, and Hunan achieved their first annual GDP breakthroughs of 9 trillion yuan, 6 trillion yuan, and 5 trillion yuan respectively, while Chongqing and Liaoning entered the "3 trillion yuan club" in annual GDP. "These regions have a relatively complete industrial layout, good economic development momentum, and good market prospects and development potential. In the new round of economic development, these regions focus on innovation driven, transformation and upgrading, and talent introduction, accelerating the promotion of high-quality development." As a major economic province in the northern region, Shandong Province's main economic indicators have significantly improved in 2023. It is reported that the total GDP of Shandong Province in 2023 was 9206.9 billion yuan, an increase of 6.0% compared to the previous year at constant prices.
