On January 16th, the 8th "Woodpecker Cup" Chinese Literary and Art Review Promotion and Release Ceremony, sponsored by the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chinese Literary and Art Critics Association, and organized by the Chinese Literary and Art Review Center of the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the China Literary and Art Review (Peking University) Base, and the Peking University School of Arts, was held at Peking University. This year's promotion activity was launched in July 2023. After being recommended by recommendation units according to quotas and self recommended by members of the China Evaluation Association, a total of 608 works were received, including 59 works, 373 long-term reviews, and 176 short reviews. Adhering to the principles of adhering to guidance, focusing on quality, and preferring scarcity over overindulgence, after initial evaluation, re evaluation, and final evaluation, 5 excellent works, 15 excellent long reviews, and 15 excellent short reviews were ultimately selected. This year's promotion activity has optimized and adjusted the recommended units, increasing the number of C-journals and A-journals in Chinese literature and art, as well as provincial-level party newspapers and other recommended units. The overall number of applications remains the same as in previous years, but the quality has significantly improved. Old, middle-aged, and young literary and artistic critics from academia, industry, and media actively applied, showcasing the literary and artistic criticism styles of various art categories, regions, and age groups. A group of literary and artistic criticism works that are deeply involved in literary and artistic practice, highlight problem awareness, focus on researching cutting-edge and biased issues in the field of literature and art, and focus on reflection, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, and leading have stood out. Since 2016, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Evaluation Association have held the "Woodpecker Cup" annual promotion event for Chinese literary and artistic criticism, recognizing outstanding achievements and talents in literary and artistic criticism, covering fields such as literature, drama, film, television, music, dance, art, photography, calligraphy, Quyi, acrobatics, folk art, and art theory. After years of promotion and selection, the Woodpecker Cup has become a widely recognized national important event. In this year's promotion event, four review works published by Guangming Daily, including "Ordinary Has Light - The New Laborer Image in Thematic Art Creation", "Why Inherited Ancient Paintings Become the" Super Link "of Traditional Culture", "Should Give Good Names to Film and Television Dramas", and "Shaping the Image of" Numeric Figures "with Chinese Cultural Connotation", were selected as "Excellent Literary and Art Short Review Articles".
