How was the Twelve Heavenly Three Arrows of Kuaishou One A refined

2024-01-08

On January 5th, the Kuaizhou-1A rocket launched the Tianmu 1 constellation with 15 to 18 stars into its designated orbit at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, achieving a successful start to China's space launch in 2024. The reporter learned from China Aerospace Science and Industry Rocket Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Rocket Company") that since March 22, 2023, the Kuaishzhou-1A rocket has been continuously launched in batches of "5 batches and 20 stars" to assist in the basic construction of the solar synchronous orbit business sub constellation of Tianmu 1 constellation. Especially in the last three missions, the rocket entered the field once and successfully launched continuously from the same station within 12 days, marking its official entry into the stage of mass production, mass assembly, and group launch. This is the first time for the Fast Boat rocket to enter the field in one go and launch three consecutive shots, and the key is the consistency of product batch quality. Any slight mistake in the three consecutive tasks will disrupt the overall rhythm, which requires further improvement of the team's quality control capabilities on the basis of multiple launches in the early stage. To this end, the Fast Boat team has put in great effort in building a quality system and implementing a quality culture, ultimately achieving "zero failures" for product entry and "double satisfaction" for process results. Continuous fast frequency transmission is inseparable from the continuous improvement and upgrading of various elements of the mission organization. The Kuaishou team, based on their experience in the past 27 missions and taking this consecutive launch mission as an opportunity, has achieved excellent performance in fulfilling their obligations, with one team member ensuring three missions and 7 days of entry with launch conditions. According to Zhu Feng, the Director of the Project Office for the Type A of the Kuaizhou, during the final assembly stage of the rocket, three missions are dynamically interspersed and parallel, achieving simultaneous progress of multiple missions with the most streamlined resources. The wholesale transportation of the three rocket sets that have been synchronously assembled further saves entry time and fulfillment costs. In addition, the Kuaishou team will also conduct one time-consuming test and two operations in Wuhan before entering the site, reducing the working days of the launch site by two days. Yao Shaojun, the commander-in-chief of the Kuaizhou 1A model, stated that behind the mass assembly and launch, there is a shift in the model concept from a single project system to a product system. In 2016, Kuaishou Rocket signed China's first commercial launch service contract, and the development team adopted a "retail" approach of signing one order and starting one order production. As the order volume gradually increases, Rocket Company has begun to adopt the model of "mass production of rocket components first, and then mass production of the general rocket parts after the task is clarified". In 2022, the company launched a "partial early mass production and early final assembly" model for rocket generalization, with the first batch of 10 rockets put into production, including 5 rockets for launching the Tianmu 1 constellation. In this mode, the rocket is "produced first and then signed", only requiring customized design and production according to the order, greatly reducing the fulfillment time from the supply method and improving the efficiency of launch services. Currently, the increasingly strong demand for constellation networking in China has put forward higher requirements for the efficiency of rocket launch performance. Cha Xiongquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Rocket Company, said, "The '12 Days, 3 Arrows' mission is the starting point of the mass networking stage of the industrialization of Kuaishou Rocket, and also an important milestone in driving the faster and better development of the aerospace industry cluster in Hubei."
