Recently, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has attracted attention. Professor Zeng Xiaofeng, Director of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Skin and Immunological Diseases, introduced that systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease that can cause damage to multiple organs and tissues such as the kidneys, cardiovascular system, lungs, digestive system, blood system, blood vessels, and eyes. Infection, kidney involvement, and lupus encephalopathy are the main causes of death in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus in China. Lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease that cannot be cured, but can be controlled. The latest data from the world's largest systemic lupus erythematosus database shows that patients with systemic lupus erythematosus have multiple organ damage, even irreversible damage. About 20% of patients already have irreversible organ damage, 40% of patients have organ damage in the first year, and 50% of patients have permanent organ damage within 5 years of onset. The 2019 China Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Development Report shows that there are currently nearly one million patients with systemic lupus erythematosus in China, mainly concentrated in women of childbearing age. Although with the development of rheumatology and immunology in China, the 5-year survival rate of patients has increased to over 90%, the clinical remission and complete remission rates of patients in China are only 3.2% and 2.8%, respectively. The most common clinical manifestations of lupus nephritis are proteinuria, hematuria, and renal tubular injury. If lupus nephritis cannot be effectively controlled, 17% to 25% of lupus nephritis patients can progress to end-stage kidney disease and require dialysis or kidney transplantation treatment. Many patients are prone to confusion in the early stages of illness, and it is generally difficult to diagnose them in the early stages. At the same time, they may be misdiagnosed as other diseases. Li Mengtao, Director of the Rheumatology and Immunology Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, reminds that if the following symptoms occur, it is recommended to go to the Rheumatology and Immunology Department and seek diagnosis from experienced doctors. Standardized treatment can block the condition: first, skin and mucous membranes. Young girls may experience skin symptoms such as rash, discoid or butterfly shaped erythema on their faces, or severe hair loss; Secondly, joint and muscle pain; Thirdly, low white blood cells and sometimes low platelets may occur; Fourthly, urine examination reveals kidney involvement. Joint pain or arthritis is one of the most common clinical manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus, with approximately 90% of patients experiencing joint pain or arthritis at different stages of its course.
