China has successfully launched two Beidou navigation satellites
2023-12-27
The reporter learned from China Aerospace Science and Technology Group that on the 26th, China's Long March series carrier rockets successfully launched twice, sending a total of 5 satellites into orbit. At 6:39 am on the same day, China's Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center successfully launched the Test 24C satellite using the Long March 11 carrier rocket in the sea area near Yangjiang, Guangdong, in a "one rocket three star" manner, and the satellite entered the designated orbit smoothly. The Experiment 24C satellite was developed by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and is mainly used for space science and technology experiments. The Long March 11 carrier rocket was developed by the First Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group. At 11:26, the Long March 3B/Yuanzheng 1 carrier rockets ignited and took off from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center, successfully sending the 57th and 58th Beidou navigation satellites into their designated orbits. The two Beidou satellites launched this time were developed by the Fifth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group and are backup satellites for the Beidou-3 project. After completing in orbit testing, the satellite will be connected to the BeiDou satellite navigation system. The backup satellite will further reduce the operational risks of the Beidou-3 system and ensure the continuous and stable operation of various services in the system. The Long March 3B/Expedition 1 carrier rockets were jointly developed by the First Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group. The Long March 3B rocket belongs to the "Gold Medal Rocket" Long March 3A series, and adopts the unified configuration design concept of the Long March 3A series rocket. The upper stage of Expedition One is a conventional propellant orbital transfer carrier specially developed for launching China's new generation BeiDou navigation satellite. This mission is a joint effort between the Chang3B rocket and the upper stage of the Expedition 1, following the successful launch of the 12th group of mid circular orbit satellites of Beidou-3 on December 16, 2019. At this point, the Long March series of launch vehicles have carried out 504 launches. (Lai Xin She)
