The 5th World Chinese Education Conference was held in Beijing from December 19th to 20th. Shi Taifeng, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee, met with the attending representatives. The conference pointed out that overseas Chinese have a fine tradition of valuing education and inheriting national culture. More than 60 million overseas Chinese are the bridge and link connecting China and the world, and the main force in inheriting and promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture and promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations. Overseas Chinese education is a Chinese language and cultural education enterprise independently founded by overseas Chinese, known as the "Rooting Project", "Hope Project", and "Livelihood Project" of overseas Chinese society. Overseas Chinese schools are an important platform for spreading Chinese culture and enhancing exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations. I hope that Chinese language educators at home and abroad will strengthen their cultural confidence, base themselves on more than 5000 years of Chinese civilization, and rely on China's vivid development practices to comprehensively elaborate on China's views on civilization, development, and the world. This will help people from all over the world understand a true, three-dimensional, and comprehensive China, promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, enhance people's understanding, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. This conference is jointly hosted by the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council and the All China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, with the theme of "promoting high-quality development of Chinese language education and promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations". 600 representatives from nearly 70 countries and regions around the world attended.
