In this adjustment, a total of 126 drugs were added to the national medical insurance drug catalog, and 1 drug was removed from the catalog. After the adjustment, the total number of drugs in the list has increased to 3088, including 1698 western medicines, 1390 traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations, and 892 Chinese herbal pieces. The new version of the National Medical Insurance Drug Catalogue will be implemented from January 1, 2024. The new version of the medical insurance drug catalog has added drugs in the fields of anti-tumor, rare diseases, antiviral, etc. After this adjustment, the level of protection in areas such as chronic diseases, rare diseases, and pediatric medication has been further improved. 143 drugs outside the catalog participated in the negotiation or bidding process, of which 121 were successful, with a success rate of 84.6% and an average price reduction of 61.7%. The success rate and price reduction are basically the same as in 2022. Combined with negotiated price reductions and medical insurance reimbursement factors, it is expected to reduce the burden on patients by over 40 billion yuan in the next two years. In this adjustment, the National Medical Insurance Administration further improved its rules and standardized procedures, and the scientific, standardized, transparent, and refined level of directory adjustments were further enhanced.
