Chen Wenqing, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, recently presided over a meeting to study the work of fair justice, following the special study of scientific legislation and strict law enforcement. The meeting pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, political and legal organs have achieved new results in promoting fair justice by deepening the reform of the judicial system and implementing the judicial responsibility system. In the new era and new journey, political and legal organs must adhere to the principle of justice for the people and fair justice, constantly meeting the higher demands of the people for fairness and justice. The meeting emphasized that to comprehensively promote fair justice, we must abide by both the law and the rules. We must adhere to the unity of rights and responsibilities, comprehensively and accurately implement the judicial responsibility system, strictly implement the responsibility for handling cases, improve the accountability and punishment mechanism, and not only let the adjudicators make judgments, but also let the adjudicators take responsibility. We must adhere to power constraints, standardize the operation of judicial power, and strengthen supervision and restraint. We must adhere to openness and fairness, promote fairness through openness, and ensure integrity through transparency. We must adhere to respecting procedures, implement principles such as legal avoidance and evidence adjudication, and achieve the unity of substantive fairness and procedural fairness. The promotion of fair justice should be based on strict adherence to the law, ensuring that criminal cases are not wasted or tolerated, and that leniency and severity are balanced. For civil cases, the case should be concluded and disputes resolved, and for administrative cases, political communication and people's harmony should be achieved, and trust should be gained from the people.
