On November 29th local time, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a statement to the media after the high-level meeting of the Security Council on the Palestinian Israeli issue. Wang Yi stated that this round of the Palestinian Israeli conflict has caused a large number of civilian casualties, leading to a serious humanitarian disaster. The international community expects the Security Council to assume its due responsibilities and take strong actions. As the rotating presidency of the Security Council this month, China has always regarded the Palestinian Israeli conflict as the most urgent issue. After presiding over the adoption of the first Security Council resolution since the escalation of this round of conflict, we are further convening a high-level meeting today to respond to the strong call of the international community. Foreign ministers and high-level representatives from nearly 20 countries attended the meeting, and China expresses its gratitude for this. The attending representatives had in-depth discussions on the current situation between Palestine and Israel and the next steps of work, and all parties further consolidated consensus and worked together towards returning to peace. Wang Yi emphasized that we welcome the temporary humanitarian ceasefire agreement reached last week, but peace cannot be restricted and the ceasefire cannot have a deadline. Once the window of opportunity is opened, it should not be closed, and once the flames of war stop, they cannot reignite. We cannot allow humanitarian disasters to continue and we cannot accept civilians suffering from charcoal again. We urge the release of all detained individuals, call for the lifting of the comprehensive blockade on Gaza, ensure smooth humanitarian access, and guarantee the basic survival needs of Gaza's civilians. We should also prevent conflicts from spilling over to the entire Middle East region and urge countries that have an impact on the parties to play an active role. Wang Yi pointed out that the Palestinian Israeli conflict once again proves that the "two-state solution" is the only feasible way to solve the Palestinian issue. More than 70 years have passed, and generations of Palestinians have lost their homes and been in turmoil. The long-standing wish for Palestine's independence and establishment is still unattainable, which is a wound to human conscience. The international community should fully implement the relevant resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council, fully respect the will of the Palestinian people, return to the correct track of the "two-state solution", and establish an independent Palestinian state as soon as possible. Only in this way can we achieve peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel, achieve harmonious coexistence between the Arab and Jewish peoples, and achieve lasting peace in the Middle East region. Wang Yi stated that China has always stood on the side of peace, justice, and conscience on the Palestinian issue. Based on this, the Chinese side has submitted a position document on resolving the Palestinian Israeli conflict, proposing various suggestions such as promoting a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of war, effectively protecting civilians, ensuring humanitarian assistance, increasing diplomatic mediation, and implementing the "two country plan". To alleviate the humanitarian situation, China will provide a new batch of emergency humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.
