The International Exhibition Bureau, headquartered in Paris, France, announced on the evening of the 28th that member countries have voted to choose Saudi Arabia as the host country for the 2030 registered World Expo. The 2030 World Expo will be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, from October 1, 2030 to March 31, 2031. The International Bureau of Exhibitions stated in a press release that in the 173rd plenary session of the organization, Saudi Arabia received 119 votes and was elected with a majority of over two-thirds of the votes. The theme of the 2030 World Expo is "The Era of Change: Joining Hands to Create a Better Tomorrow". After the announcement of the voting results, Secretary General of the National Exhibition Bureau, Kelkenzies, stated that he looks forward to close cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the next seven years to bring the world together. The International Bureau of Exhibitions was established in 1928 as an intergovernmental organization responsible for coordinating and managing the organization of the World Expo. The World Expo under the management of the International Bureau of Exhibitions is mainly divided into two types: registered (comprehensive) Expo and recognized (professional) Expo. The requirements for registering for the World Expo are stricter, and it will be held every 5 years. The 2025 World Expo will be held in Osaka, Japan. According to Saudi news agency, after the announcement, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman expressed gratitude for the support of all countries and welcomed them to participate in the 2030 World Expo. He emphasized that the Riyadh World Expo will provide a platform for utilizing cutting-edge technology and gathering global wisdom, seeking opportunities to jointly address the challenges facing the world today.
