At the 2023 Artificial Intelligence Computing Conference (AICC) held on the 29th, international data company IDC and Inspur Information jointly released the "2023-2024 China Artificial Intelligence Computing Power Development Evaluation Report". The report predicts that the size of China's artificial intelligence server market will reach 9.1 billion US dollars in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 82.5%, and 13.4 billion US dollars in 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of 21.8%. It is reported that this is the sixth release of the report since 2018. The report suggests that artificial intelligence is accelerating its transition from perceptual intelligence to generative intelligence, and as a result, the demand for computing power in artificial intelligence is growing rapidly. The report predicts that the compound annual growth rate of China's intelligent computing power scale will reach 33.9% from 2022 to 2027, and the compound annual growth rate of general computing power scale will be 16.6%. The global artificial intelligence hardware market (server) will grow from 19.5 billion US dollars in 2022 to 34.7 billion US dollars in 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 17.3%; Among them, the market share of servers used to run generative artificial intelligence in the overall artificial intelligence server market will increase from 11.9% in 2023 to 31.7% in 2026. The report states that Chinese companies generally have a high acceptance of generative artificial intelligence. According to research, 67% of Chinese companies have started exploring opportunities for the application of generative artificial intelligence within their enterprises or have started investing relevant funds. Chinese companies particularly recognize the value of generative artificial intelligence in accelerating decision-making, improving efficiency, optimizing user and employee experiences, and will continue to increase investment in the next three years; However, at the same time, enterprises need to face the pressure brought by resource shortages such as computing and storage, the need to improve the availability of industry models, and high investment costs. The report points out that China's artificial intelligence technology is accelerating into the era of comprehensive application. In 2023, the top five industries in the penetration of artificial intelligence are the Internet, telecommunications, government, finance, and manufacturing, with telecommunications jumping from fourth in the previous year to second. The report shows that in the past five years (2018-2022), cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hefei, Suzhou, and Chongqing have shown outstanding performance in the field of artificial intelligence. Affected by the investment in generative artificial intelligence and intelligent computing centers, the 2023 ranking of Chinese artificial intelligence cities has changed, with Beijing still ranking first, Hangzhou and Shenzhen ranking second and third respectively. In addition, the top ten cities include Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Jinan, Hefei, Chongqing, and Chengdu. (Lai Xin She)
