Chen Tangui, chief physician of the Department of Gastroenterology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, stated in an interview with People's Daily that it is recommended that high-risk individuals for gastric cancer undergo gastroscopy once a year to help detect gastric cancer lesions early. "Early identification, detection, and treatment of gastric cancer are very important." Chen Tanqian explained that early gastric cancer does not have very obvious symptoms, and only a small number of people will have symptoms of indigestion, such as bloating, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, etc. Who is more susceptible to stomach cancer? Chen Tangui stated that the population aged 40 and above; Irregular diet, overeating, and long-term consumption of high salt, smoked products, and salted foods; People with poor lifestyle habits, such as those who smoke or drink heavily; Individuals with a family history of gastric cancer; Patients with gastric ulcers, gastric polyps, and a history of gastric surgery or other stomach diseases; H. pylori infected individuals. "It should be noted that infection with Helicobacter pylori increases the risk of developing cancer, but it does not necessarily mean that one will develop stomach cancer after infection." Chen Tanqian explained that there is no need for excessive anxiety after infection with Helicobacter pylori, and one should actively cooperate with treatment according to their own situation. Chen Tanqian also stated that regular gastroscopy is crucial for early detection of gastric cancer. It is recommended that high-risk individuals for gastric cancer undergo gastroscopy once a year, while non high-risk individuals should start undergoing gastroscopy at the age of 40 and then undergo gastroscopy every 3 to 5 years.
