The Second Yangtze River Protection Judicial Forum was held to discuss the future of judicial protection in the Yangtze River Basin

On the morning of November 25th, the second Yangtze River Protection Judicial Forum opened in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The current Yangtze River Protection Judicial Forum is jointly organized by the Higher People's Court of Hubei Province, the Yangtze River Maritime Law Society, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central South University of Economics and Law, and the People's Court Environmental Resource Trial Theory Research Base. It is provided with academic guidance by the Environmental Resource Law Research Association of the China Law Society. At the opening ceremony, Xiao Juhua, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Li Yuefeng, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Vice Chairman of the Supervision and Judicial Committee of the National People's Congress, and Executive Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan League, Gan Zangchun, Vice President of the China Law Society, and Liu Dongshun, Secretary and Director of the Party Group of the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources, delivered speeches. Nine experts and scholars from academia, industry, and practice exchanged experiences and discussed the future together around the perspectives of rule of law thinking, legal countermeasures, and judicial practice in the protection of the Yangtze River. On the afternoon of November 25th, three sub forums of this forum were held simultaneously, and 37 experts, scholars, and practical elites were invited to give special reports on the theme of "Research on Legal Protection of Yangtze River Basin Governance". They shared their insightful insights, collided with ideological sparks, and provided the latest theoretical achievements and practical wisdom support for the judicial protection of the ecological environment in the Yangtze River Basin and the modernization of Yangtze River Basin governance. It is a deep exchange, integration, and interaction that holds high the banner of protecting the Yangtze River. In the early stage of this forum, a total of 226 valid submissions were received, and after strict review and selection, 70 excellent papers were awarded. The forum attracted more than 130 well-known experts and scholars from the field of environmental resources both domestically and internationally, representatives from relevant practical fields, and outstanding paper authors to attend.
