Air Force Transport -20 to South Korea to transport the remains of the 10th batch of volunteers in South Korea back to China

2023-11-22

On November 21, an Air Force Y-20 plane prepared to take off from an airport in central China to carry out the task of transporting the remains of the 10th batch of volunteers in South Korea. Chen Jun's reporters Li Jianwen and Zhang Dongpan reported that the 10th batch of Chinese People's Volunteer Army martyrs in South Korea underwent the handover and welcome back burial work from November 20th to 24th. At around 13:00 on the 21st, a Y-20 aircraft from the Chinese Air Force took off from an airport in central China, carrying out a mission to pick up the remains of the 10th batch of volunteers in South Korea and return home. Following international law and humanitarian principles, China and South Korea have successfully handed over the remains of 913 Chinese People's Volunteer Army martyrs and related items in South Korea for nine consecutive times from 2014 to 2022. Since 2015, the Air Force has sent planes to South Korea every year to carry out transportation missions. Starting from 2020, the Air Force has dispatched domestic large transport aircraft Y-20 to carry out this mission for four consecutive years. This transportation task was organized and implemented in winter. In response to possible weather conditions such as rain, snow, and strong winds, the crew made careful preparations to ensure a stable and timely arrival of the aircraft, allowing the martyrs of the volunteer army to safely and smoothly return home. The Air Force Aviation Department of the Central Theater Command, which was responsible for this mission, was the earliest transportation aviation unit established by the People's Air Force. Prior to this, they had already carried out eight consecutive missions to transport the remains of martyrs from the Korean Volunteer Army back home. It is understood that on November 23, when the remains of the martyrs of the Volunteer Army return to China, two J-20 aircraft will accompany the Y-20 in China's airspace to carry out the transportation mission. They will use the "Double 20" formation to comfort the revolutionary martyrs and express their high respect. (New News Agency)
